The Multimedia Theatrical Spectacular 'ERA Intersection of Time' has been performed since its debut at Shanghai Circus World in September 2005. It is unique and comparable to the tradition of the Broadway Musical. It is in fact a stunning acrobatic show combining traditional Chinese arts and modern technologies. The performers present Chinese acrobatics, martial arts and dance perfectly in harmony with the music, sound, lighting, and other special effects, which include a water screen. While you marvel at the highly proficient skills of the performers, the story of China's evolution from its ancient past to the future is told. Hence, the title 'Intersection of Time', as the viewpoint of the audience is set in the present between the past and the future. The performance provides a wonderful insight into China's ancient culture and civilization, with sections about Sinan, an ancient Chinese invention for telling directions, soothsaying and conjuring. There is a fantastic section showing an acrobatic program which has elements performed since the far off days of the Han Dynasty (206BC–220AD). With porcelain jars and vats as their stage properties the performers give an overview of Chinese porcelain culture and greater understand of the country's name of 'China'.Modern achievements that are also showcased include Shanghai Donghai Cross-Sea Bridge, Maglev Train, and Shenzhou 5, China's first manned space mission. From these, you can see the amazing development and bright future of Shanghai and the whole country. The 100-minute performance shows not only artistic skills, but also creativity. Aided by multimedia including vision, original live music, sound effects, smell effect, air conditioning and lighting,

Yes circus name is deceiving, saw the show as part of a Sinorama tour, very impressive, it was very much in the vein of Cirque de Soleil without the colourful costumes and crazy music. The motorbike trick in the wheel was outstanding, well worth the visit.

We enjoyed the show and it kept me entertained but it was certainly old style and nothing that i had not seen before, same usual tricks, clowns in between acts trying to be funny. Was watchable and kids would love it.

The place is rather small (about 15 rows) so don't bother paying for the premium tickets. You can see from any seat. We bought the cheapest ticket and wasn't blocked by anyone. Shanghai Circus World added a modern twist to the acrobatic shows. The performances were like all the other acrobatic shows we have seen around China but the use... More

The circus was replete with many awesome stunts which took my breath away. Their acts were beyond incredible and it was totally worth it. The place and toilets were pretty clean although the food and merchandise were quite expensive. Location was very accessible via metro which was about 150m away. Recommendable, a once in a lifetime experience regardless of whether... More

Fantastic form and mastery by expertly trained acrobats. Fantastic show of traditional chinese acrobatics blended with contemporary show techniques. A must see show if you're visiting Shanghai. Take train there. Super easy! Family friendly.

My family and I were amazed by this fantastic show. Despite it's name, it is not a Western-style circus. Instead, it was one act of improbable balance and gymnastics after the other-- a bit like Cirque di Sole. We were enthralled from the beginning to end. I highly recommend this to families, couples, and single-travelers, alike. A tip: the auditorium... More

Great experience! This is the acrobatic show with several parts. I've ordered tickets through Era website, and collected them at the show day. You can buy the cheapest tickets, because the view is pretty much the same from any spot.

Although they call it circus not sure why since its more of gymnastics place but whatever it is its good. Second to what I have seen in Las Vegas hence I give 4 points. No animal circus this is. Its strict and no camera allowed.
