The area
Neighbourhood: Century Park
Shanghai residents see Pudong’s suburbs as the place that grown-ups retreat to when they’re ready to settle down and stop living in the cramped confines of a refurbished lanehouse. The areas around Century Park are some of the most desirable as they are in close proximity to the Metro Lines, granting easy access to the heart of Puxi. The park itself is a huge draw, it’s one of Shanghai’s biggest and there are sports fields tucked into one of its corners, but five-star hotels, museums and great malls make life in the Century Park area easy for the homesick foreigner. And if living in a Western bubble in China isn’t your thing, there is plenty of local flavor to be had in between the major development. Some of Lujiazui’s futurism can also be seen in buildings and sculptures throughout the neighborhood as well.

The mall has some good eating establishments having a variety of cuisines and is not very crowded. It is just beside the Kerry Hotel and if you are here on business or leisure, good to stay near the mall.

This is a family friendly mall. We live in Shanghai and bring our youngest child (2.5 years) here once a week. There’s almost always some kind of activity or theme decorations in the mall which entertains the kids – from Chinese New Year, to NBA finals, to Halloween.
Plenty to eat with the more inexpensive places being in the basement and the fancier restaurants upstairs. And lots of snack and drink bars – Starbucks, Breadtalk, Pacific Coffee and plenty of juice bars to keep you hydrated.
Up on the second floor are a whole group of kiddie stores – clothes, toys and furniture.
On the ground floor, the Ole supermarket and groceries store caters to the expat taste (with expat prices).
There are clothing stores like GAP, H&M and several Chinese and Korean brands I don’t really understand.
And lots of speciality stores like Watsons for health and cosmetics, and technology and phone and Ipad store, a bakery and pastry training school for kids.
Spend 300 RMB or more on weekdays and you can go to the concierge for an hour free parking. On weekends, it’s a flat 10 RMB an hour.
If you’re visiting from overseas or another Province, there is no special reason to come here as it is just another mall. But if you live in Shanghai and especially if you’re in Pudong district, this is a very good family environment to eat, drink, shop and relax.

In Kerry Parkside Mall, there is a Szechuan restaurant on the ground floor. Very disappointing staff for such a formal looking restaurant.
1) Very poor communication skills. We arrived at about 8.45pm. They should inform us that they were closing soon. At least we could have gone back to Kerry Hotel to eat. Half through our dinner, they insisted on us paying our bill and we left.
2) Quarrelsome attitude. Waitress insisted that I had ticked the wrong dish. After I explained that I am reading the English dish names and not the Chinese ones, she claimed the restaurant may have misprinted. Well get your facts straight and stop arguing with customers.
3) Sadly, the food was TASTELESS. Being a Szechuan restaurant, that’s odd.
Nevertheless our last supper in Shanghai had a nasty taste. So much for enjoying our last night here. Such unpleasant people I have met. My luck.

I had difficulty walking this particular day but did not have enough money in my Wechat wallet but had cash on me. So I went to the help desk where Ms Yang assisted by sending me a 100 yuan red packet so i could get a Didi to the apartment. Afterwards I gave her the cash....so trusting. I slowly walked to the closest exit of the mall and requested a Didi (taxi) from the App whom i could now pay from my Wechat wallet

This mall was across my hotel and I needed a place to walk around and overcome jet lag. It is very clean, well lit, and has a number of western and Chinese stores. No special deals and high prices meant no purchases from me, but I did find a terrific steamed bun place. Very nice people, nice food, nice place. Check it out.

You can spend some at "The Brew" or eat a hamburguer, a pizza. It's also a good place to shop. And there is a hotel there.
