- ClaireLouiseDerbyshire, United Kingdom342 contributionsLoved this tower with great views. Well organisedReally enjoyed going up early around 9am and enjoying the views on the 2 levels. Great light show highlighting the future of Shanghai. We did this tower as well and Shanghai Tower. Enjoyed them both and glad I did them both. 100% recommendVisited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 October 2023
- Fadilah FapusAbuja, Nigeria381 contributionsOriental Pearl Tower, ShanghaiI developed courage here! I got to walk in the glass floors and look down! Very nice place to visit. Paid admission also but worth it. Also, always buy premium to avoid the long queueVisited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 16 January 2024
- Willow JTennessee3 contributionsGet a unique perspective of the cityThis is undeniably one of the most charming spots to visit in Shanghai. While it may not boast the title of the tallest building in the city, it certainly holds its own appeal. The architecture is stunning, and the panoramic views are truly breathtaking. The highlight for many visitors is the glass-bottom viewing point, offering a unique perspective of the cityscape below. Like many other attractions, Wi-Fi is available here, although we encountered difficulty with the OTP due to the language barrier.Visited February 2024Travelled on businessWritten 5 February 2024
- Jeffry bEssendon, Australia13,657 contributionsTower is a Shanghai landmarkThe Oriental Pearl Tower is a landmark of Shanghai that few visitors miss. The Oriental Pearl Tower was worth visiting, it's a standout 875 feet tall. You can get something to eat if you visit the tower. It's in Pudong, which means "Eastern City" in Shanghai. Oriental Pearl Tower is a monument to progress in Shanghai's Pudong New Area. We have visited this area several times, it helps make the trip to Shanghai worth the trip.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 May 2024
- Agreas292 contributionsWorth a visitSpectacular, massive, huge, but very crowded. We got the 2-ball tickets which gave us access to the 263m, 259m glass deck, and 78m futuristic deck. The viewing glass panels were old and had some blurry marks and scratches which made the overall experience a little less spectacular, but you could enjoy a 360° view of Shanghai overseeing the skyscrapers and Huangpu river. At the 259m deck is the all-round glass floor where you look down all the way to the ground floor, very exciting but not for the faint. Again it was very crowded so it dampens our experience a little. The 78m deck brings you through a virtual tour of Shanghai history via a moving travelator, it took us a long queue and wait to get there so we felt it could be skipped. There's a shopping mall under the tower for snacks and souvenirs but if you're thinking to get the pearl tower shaped ice cream do note it's only available on the 263m deck. Worth a visit but ticket is not cheap at RMB199 per pax.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 May 2024
- Sergey ANizhny Novgorod, Russia43 contributionsNot the highest in Shanghai yet very emotionalWe spent about two hours here plus 40 minutes in the queue, which was quite impressive by itself due to a long weekend. I always try to view a new city from a high point so for me the tower was an obligatory trip part. Surprisingly, the impressions from Shanghai city history museum located at the 1st floor of the tower could be compared to those from 260-meters height. The museum visit was included in our 160 yuan pass and we spent almost an hour there, though we hesitated initially whether it was worth our time because of a very tight schedule. Note that if you want to enjoy the tower light show from The Bund in the evening (it's performed every hour since 8:00 pm and duration is only 5 minutes), it makes sense to reserve at least 40 minutes to get there from the tower, even if it's only 1 subway station away, due to very dense traffic near The Bund in the evenings. We though half an hour would be enough and we missed the show as a result.Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 15 June 2024
- Zfy EdSingapore, Singapore10,639 contributionsNice and futuristic Tower overseeing the river! The Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower is located in Pudong Park in Lujiazui, a short walk from the metro station. It is 468m in height and is a key landmark in this city, and also a hot place for tourists to visit Shanghai. Surrounded by the Yangpu Bridge in the northeast and the Nanpu Bridge in the southwest, it creates a picture of 'twin dragons playing with pearls'. Besides coming here to see and "feel" the tower, another great view is from the Bund too! There are three large spheres including the top sphere, known as the space module. And there are five smaller ones and three decorative spheres at the base. The entire structure rests on rich green grassland and gives the appearance of pearls shining on a jade plate. Visitors not only can appreciate the panorama of the city but also enjoy a great time in the exciting and fun activities and enjoy delicious food from the featured restaurants there.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 June 2024
- WayneTokoroa, New Zealand467 contributionsExcellent view, clear and fine dayThis was a neat place to visit. Very hot outside, lining up, thankfully the queues were not too long. Plenty of good photo options up there. After the tour, in the basement area there is a small museum of culture & history, very glad we went there tooVisited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 July 2024
- J J3 contributionsOur Shanghai SummerStepping out onto the observation deck, we were greeted by a breathtaking panorama. Shanghai unfolded before us in all its splendor. The Huangpu River, a ribbon of silver, wove through the heart of the city, while the skyline, a harmonious blend of old and new, stretched out to the horizon. We stood together, marveling at the view, our connection to each other and to the city deepening with each passing moment. We spent hours exploring the tower, our steps synchronized as we moved from one level to the next. We braved the glass-bottomed skywalk, my wife's laughter ringing out as she dared me to look down. We savored the flavors of Shanghai at one of the tower's restaurants, the city lights twinkling below us like a sea of stars.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 August 2024
- geo3Calgary, Canada2,142 contributionsGood views, funThis is easy to access from the Lujuizui metro station (Line 2 or Line 14), about a 200 or 300 m walk, and the walk from the metro station will give you a taste of the ultramodern Pudong district, worth seeing in itself. The last time I was in Shanghai, in 2019, I went up the World Financial Center. This time, i went up the Oriental Pearl Tower. Summary: the World Financial Center has better views, since it is taller, but the Oriental Pearl Tower is more fun. As others have mentioned, there are three separate levels. I started at the uppermost level, which had good views but was quite crowded. The next level down has the transparent floor, and away from the floor it is less crowded but still has very good views. Finally, the elevator can take you down to the lowermost viewing level, which is outdoors. There is a wire mesh for safety around the outside, but it was still possible to get pictures through the mesh, and it was fun to be outdoors at quite a height. This level was not crowded at all. You can get a slightly reduced price as a foreign tourist, but in order to get that you have to prove you are from outside China. They accepted a cellphone picture of my passport as proof. Incidentally, there was quite a bit of English-language signage, enough to go through the ticket-buying process with no issues.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 18 August 2024

This was a really good “tall building” experience— better than shanghai tower for example. The middle bubble is spacious and includes a “transparent floor” level. The transparent floor provides a unique view of lujiazui— but is not for those scared of heights!
There is a outdoor walkway at around 98m that is also a nice way to see lujiazui
The shanghai history museum on the ground floor and included in the ticket price is well done. It provides a way of feeling how shanghai developed over the last couple hundred years.
I would recommend skipping the top bubble and saving some money on the ticket. The top bubble has windows that are hard to see out of and doesn’t add much beyond the middle bubble.
Also, beware that the the 98m area has a video game arcade. If you are a fan, great. If you have kids that you don’t want getting absorbed in video games while visiting the tower, you’ll want to distract them as you pass by!

Surprisingly not to crowded, the view from the various decks is amazing. We where luck to have a clear day and could see extremely far. Went back the same day for an evening view from the revolving restaurant, the food was low end but hay got to sit down and get a 360 view without having to walk. Great day I’ll definitely recommend it

The tower has just re opened, and with limited number of people that can enter per day. So I decided to go and have a look while here in Shanghai..
There was only a handful of people at the viewing deck, so view were outstanding, no queues etc...but the top ball was closed for refurbishment.
Restaurants also closed, but the price was heavily reduced.
Stayed until after sunset - gratis over the bund and Shanghai.....
Closed at 8pm.
Worth a visit

After waiting in line you take an elevator up the tower and can see the whole city stretching out, at night time it is lit up in all different colours and you can see every buildings along the river. You can also look directly down and see buildings beneath including the Disney shop lit up with the Mickey Mouse sign. Only problem is that the edges of the floor are made of glass, while other people happily walk on it or sit on it, however I was too scared to set foot on it. Because of the circular shape of the pearl you can walk around the room and see the whole city in any direction, including up and down. Apparently there is also a rollercoaster on one of the floors so there's much more to explore.

This is a must do for anyone visiting Shanghai for the first time. Everything else you can save for the next trip if you are short on time. The tower is not just a landmark with a view, there are scores of shops, restaurants and events inside. For example, there is currently the Impressionists painters art museum on display. Along with that is the Museum of Light, which is really nice for those original Instagram photos. I have been here more than once, usually taking visitors, but love it every time. This is especially the time to go, since the virus has pretty much taken away the normal crowds that gather here.

Although not the tallest observation deck you can visit (that would be Shanghai Center, just a few minutes walk from the Oriental Pearl Tower), this one gave plenty of opportunity to take in views of Shanghai.
The glass floor walk was a little unnerving but still cool. The ticket I had was a combination ticket with the tunnel ride under the Huangpu river, so it did not give me access to the highest observation deck (another 70m or so above of where I was). I did not bother paying extra RMB80 per person because the air wasn't that clear anyway and I already got a pretty good view from the 270m level.

My second time to purchase this voucher and the experience still “wowed” me. I came with friends in my first visit to Shanghai and I instantly fell in love with the city. Pearl Tower is actually one of the reasons why I came back and this time with my family. We spent our Christmas eve exploring Pearl Tower ending it with a wonderful Christmas eve dinner at Coca Cola Restaurant. We hardly missed home because of the festive and merry atmosphere at the restaurant with a Santa Claus giving gifts to guests. Imdeed a Merry Christmas!

Stunning view of all of Shanghai.
We bought the ticket that gives access to the penultimate tower, and it's enough. It cost 199 yuan ((May/2024).
After enjoying the view, gradually descend to the lower levels, to enjoy the walkway with a transparent glass floor and, further down, an immersive experience about the modernization of Shanghai, all included in the same ticket.
After finishing, take the elevator downstairs and visit the museum there about the history of Shanghai (just show the same ticket to enter).
There are stunning realistic characterizations with wax figures and much more. Unmissable.

Are the lifts from one floor to the other or do you have to walk up stairs?
Also, what time does the ticket office open?
In addition, if you book a package including lunch, I guess you can visit the different floors of the tower before or after lunch or is there a fixed time-period?

Written 30 June 2019
Tickets are checked in order to get into the plaza considerably before you go up the steps and enter the building and wait in the maze to go the top of the tower. I am not sure if you can bypass the maze to eat in the food court that is inside the building.

Hello,
I am headed to Shanghai soon and interest in going up the tower. Does anyone know the entrance fee and where I should buy the tickets?! I am not interested in the restaurant package but not seeing just the entrance fee on this site?! Also are there different pricing for each level?
Written 17 February 2019
Dear Friend, the package price is different from time to time, I mean it depends on the season, also there is different between the lunch and dinner. The price range between 500-800 RMB, I am not sure if they have a package for visit or enterance only. But it worth to have the lunch or dinner package.

Hello, I want to visit all floors AND eat at the restaurant. Is there a package that includes the entire tower? If so how much does it cost?
Written 6 December 2018
Actually there is no separate ticket for restaurant. The costliest ticket includes the observation deck, transparent observatory, shanghai history museum and space capsule.
You have to pay separately to go to the restaurant floor.

Hello...I went to the top of Taipei 101, and I had no problem with the heights. I know I won’t have a problem with the space and the restaurant level. What I’m worrying about is the glass level.
My question is if I decided to go on the glass level and panic, is there an exit 🚪 instead of going all the way around?
Thanks! :)

It's not all glass, like half wooden floor & half glass floor, and you don't need to step on the glass itself if you don't want to :) .

There is normal floor running around the inside of the glass floor so you don’t need to stand on the glass. And, the glass is not on all sides of the floor, just a section.
View is amazing. Worth to do.
