The wall itself is sort-of-OK. It is an old city wall - nothing special. However, head down the side street a few metres and there is an entry way through a wall. Here you can climb to the top of the wall for the obligatory photo, but it is also the entrance to the pavilion.

Inside the pavilion is a temple, a small museum and a collection of old musical instruments. We were very lucky, just the two of us in the room when a young lady smiled at us and sat down at one of the instruments. A free 5-minute concert!

Not saying you will also get the added bonus, but the temple is well worth spending half-an-hour or so.

the upstairs has a really cool temple and when you look back through the red doors, it's quite scenic. felt like old China.

downstairs, inside is a small space and i would love to have read the panels but they were all in Chinese. i did stumble upon a calligraphy class in session and that was cool.

also, a nice clean western toilet is inside. bonus!

Not worth a special trip, but you will probably see the “ Wall “, while touring other attractions. Mainly an area of shops etc. a quick stop and point was all our guide needed here .

The Great Wall it ain't but if you are into history this will interest you. A short (read 20 ft) section of what once was the wall that surrounded the entire city. Not overly impressive nor grandiose, it is however worth noting for what it represented. The pavilion next door does charge admission however to see the wall is free.

If you are not into history then give it a pass.

Disappointing. This is a what, like 15 metre stretch of wall, and all that is left of what would have been an impressive ancient city wall.

Now you have the ring roads in their place.

What a dump.

A lovely quiet place - small site but interesting in the bustle of Shanghai.

Not a must do but definitely nice if you have time and are in the area.

If you are walking past then for 5 yuan it is worth a visit. Small calligraphy museum and temple in the grounds it will only take 15 minutes to walk around. It is quiet so dose give you a chance to get out of the crowds.

A fascinating and beautiful little temple on a section of the old wall. A little bit over-renovated, perhaps, but nevertheless a little gem and definitely worth a visit. Both the temple and wall sections are open to the public.
