When I clicked on directions in this TA it opened in google maps needless to say the location was not accurate as it normally is in China 2 out of 10) in most cases. This house museum is in the former French Concession it is down the street from the Zhou Enlai historical residence. Find the Starbucks on the corner (it will be on the left side of the street coming down from the Boxing Cat Brewery) turn right go about 100 yards or so. There is a police station right across the street on the corner. The walk through takes less than an hour. They are checking health codes so have it ready, know your passport number, and your Chinese SIM number. Look at my pictures.

This is a relatively small museum, but it contains enough information to help in giving a better understanding of one of the pivotal figures in recent Chinese history. Exhibits are quite well described with English signs, although the translations from the Chinese are at times stilted.

Since this is right beside Fuxing park, these two attractions can be combined in one visit.

China has a rich history, in recent times especially around the end of the Qing dynasty till the founding of the present People's Republic. Sun Yat Sen played a vital role in it. It is always interesting to be in the place where people like him have been and worked and thus immerge yourself a bit in history. Both the museum and the private quarters are worth a visit. Nice documentation (with explanation in English albeit less than the Chinese version), interesting photo material and artifacts.

At less than $AU5 admission to this museum was excellent value.

We learnt a lot about this era of Chinese history and the part Sun-Yat-Sen played in it from the English descriptions on all of the exhibits. The Museum and House were well maintained and contained many interesting artefacts. The site was not at all crowded during our visit.

Well worth a visit if you are in Shanghai

This is actually two experiences.
The first is a museum about Sun Yat-sen, who was the revolutionary leader who overthrew the last emperor of China. It contains many artifacts and items related to Dr. Sun.
The second part is his actual house. it is furnished as it would have appeared in teh 1920's.
The cost is 20RMB

Showcasing Sun-yat Sen's Shanghai residence and home, it gives a nice picture 20th century upper-class living.
You should also visit the nearby park, especially on a Sunday.

A museum dedicated to an important man in the history of China, in his former residence.
Plenty of exhibits, with some English details (some are in Russian), with focus on the decade prior to his death. Original rooms/furniture are well preserved.
Location easy to reach, 20 RMB ticket for an adult, gift shop available (some items in English).

This is a really interesting museum. A lot of history and interesting artifacts - cheap entrance fee (20 Yuan) and relatively good information in English

I was surprised to see the former residence of Dr Sun Yat Sen so well preserved. Although he had never been a member of the Communist Party he is regarded a a hero and identified as a revolutionary, highlighting his links to the Party (and Joffe, the Russian). Sun Yat Sen died in 1925, well before the Chinese Communists took over, but his widow Soong Ching Ling (who had been his secretary in the 1910s and was known in English as Rosamunde) lived in the residence until the 1960s, meaning that many original artifacts were preserved; she was also able to supervise the process.

The museum consists of two buildings - a museum and the home itself. The former has a lot of historically interesting material, well described in good English, although sometimes lacking a wider context for those of us unfamiliar with the Chinese politics of the era.

The house was also interesting, though smaller. There are good clean toilets. Admission is discounted for those over 60. It's about 10-15 minutes walk from the nearest metro station.
