This Park is HUGE. So much to see and do. Don’t miss the “Dinosaur Park”, the Peacocks in spring, the Ferris wheel and the incredible blossoms all around the Park - note, that it does get busy, especially on the week ends and there is an entry fee.

Came on a winter day with good weather. Park was totally empty, but very beautiful with the trees changing colors. It's a huge park so be prepared to rent a bike or do a lot of walking. Lots of empty clean grass fields and hills for sports. Refreshment stands were still open. We also went to dinosaur land and saw the 3d movie, great for kids to see the life size dinosaurs, they roar as you walk by. There is a kid amusement park too at an additional cost. I think the cost is now 30rmb for the park, and a total of 70rmb for park and dino land.

We were late for the cherry and plum blossoms. We went there yesterday (18 April). There was not a single fresh blossom on the trees. Wow! However, its rose garden was really beautiful.

Cherry blossoms and other flower trees are really beautiful during the spring time in March. It's just amazing to see the whole park blooming with pink, red and white spring flowers.

If you're into Sakura flowers, then this place should be in your list of places in Shanghai. This place is famous for Sakura Festival and hence the ideal season to go is the start of Spring and thats when we went. If you have kids, then you'll need to have a full day or even more if your kids love dinosaurs (because there's a dino park within Gucun Park) to see the whole place because its huge. If you're into photography, then I'd suggest to choose weekday and go early. You can take food and camping stuff inside and there are many food options within the park.

Gucun park is reachable through line 7 exit 2, 14 stops from jing'an temple(45 min). The cost of admission is 20 rmb.
I visited on a Wednesday, last week of March. All the Sakura trees are in bloom and very beautiful. The park is clean and well managed. There are lots of activities that you can do in the park. Rent bikes/boats or go to their dinosaur park (extra admission for 40 rmb) or children's area that has some kiddie rides. There are also plenty of food stalls outside and inside the park. Mostly street food like fried potato swirls, durian, stinky tofu to name a few. There is more info in their website at gucunpark.net. Alot 2-3 hours.

A must go park if you happen to be there when the cherry blossoms and other spring flowers are in bloom. It sits just above the gucun park station and four a mere 20rmb you get access to a huge park with acres and acres of cherry and plum trees. However I had to get past my initial fear of the throngs at the entrance and the tacky amusement rides located near the front of the park.Just get pass the crowded tacky but in front and you will find the beautiful and expansive gardens of swaying willows and flowering cherry and plum trees. I spent an entire afternoon there.

Went there during the festival. The garden is very big and if you want to explore the whole park it may need half day or more. Prepare to bring some water and snack because it might be tiring. Some stalls sell food and drinks but very crowded and a bit chaotic. Try to come as early as you can as the park will be more crowded.

Take Line 7 to Meilan Lake, get off at Gucun Station, it was a 40 minute ride. Follow the crowds through a walk way adorned on each side by plum blossoms "meihua". It was just like walking on a running trail covered in plum blossoms. That was a beautiful teaser walk to prepare you for more things to come.
Buy your entrance ticket for 20RMB. We went on Tuesday, 10th of April but it was full of school children. This was during the last week of the annual 'Blossom Festival' so I guess it makes sense.
It is not your average city park, but a very big forest park outside the city. Be prepared to walk around. There are maps in English to see where you are. A river, rose garden that had not bloomed, nice sculptures, trees, blossoms, plants and different flowers. I did not see that many plum blossoms though. MosT were on the trail outside the park, which made up.
My highlight was the bird park for another 20RMB. It had more of a denser forest and shaded trees. It is April, Spring but yet very hot. You will see or hear beautiful species of birds chirping away everywhere in the forest. Parrots, hornbill birds, massive eagles, white flamingo and peacocks etc.
We were right on time for a spectacular peacock feeding time. There is a viewing stand, music playing, two peacock feeders walking around with a whistle. The peacocks flying down from the small mountain surrounded by water with fountains. Beautifully captured.
Bring something to eat, water, sunscreen, hats, umbrellas and enjoy the walk. There are paddling /cycling buggees/carts you can use to paddle around if you don't want to walk around. There are also vending machines for drinks.
Have fun in the sun.

Crowded as most attractions in Shanghai this one was a much anticipated visit to see the Cherry Blossom flowers. The Garden is huge in size and probably you can pick your areas to visit which might interest you. It has a dinosaur park, Amusement rides are and large fields. The Garden was not clean and if I try to compare with Century Park it was about half as well kept. This was a major disappointment apart from smelling water bodies. The park has many quiet area but not for visit by families as usually preoccupied by 'Love Birds'.
The cherry Blossom trees around were pleasing to watch with pink, white bloom all around. I suggest visit during cherry blossom time else not a worth it.
I far away from the center so would probable take more than an hour to reach, entry fee is 20 (rmb) apart from extra fee for any other attractions in the park which vary 15 to 30 rmb per ride, 45 rmb for Dinosaur park and so on.
