This temple is a real surprise: most Shanghai guides do not mention it, then when you arrive you get to a large complex with different halls and a tall Pagoda. The complex has been well preserved and decorated with nice carved stones and woods and many pots of plants. We got there in the morning and the monks were chanting... More

The temple is quite nice and beautiful inside. There is a long passage way along the canal which is great for sitting and taking in a peaceful afternoon. Getting to the temple is kind of an experience itself if coming from the metro station. The street is a large fish market and you get to walk through it. There are... More

This temple is a bit outskirt of Shanghai. Since the subway line 11 operated, going there is much easier. Just take line 11, off at Zhenru station, exit 5 head to Tongchuan seafood market on the left. Walk through the market till end then turn left and walk straight around 50-70 meters. The temple entrance will be on your left.... More

Cost is 10-20rmb to enter the temple and is easily access by metro 11 after walking through fish market. This is a really beautiful temple in Shanghai outside the city center and one of the cleanest and most peaceful. many places to sit and reflect on life. Very few tourists visit this temple so it is a good place if... More

Walk along the Tongchuan Road to the West for quit a while. You pass the Tongchuan Fish Market and yes, it smells fishy! Take the first road to the left,... More

This is an out of the way, non touristy temple that is kept in superb condition and is a little different than others. You can climb to the top of the huge pagoda in the back of the complex for wonderful views, and the landscaping is beautiful. Would be a wonderful place to eat a picnic lunch while sitting overlooking... More
