Great cosy museum and it works till 11pm, I’m sure that 20 is not such a big deal. Take your time and explore the house. I was alone there so I felt like I get back in time.

Visitors interested in Shanghai's History and Culture should not miss this museum. Located in Xintiandi, this musuem provides a real experience of living in a Shikumen house in the 1920 - 30s Shanghai. Pay attention to the collections and the photographs on the wall.

20 yuan for the entrance fee is a rip off. There are about 4 rooms on the ground floor, one in the first,2 or 3 on the second floor . There is also a room showing videos of the houses that were there earlier. The...More

The interior of the building is very interesting and the old furnishing are lovely. In the gallery room, where the art works are on display, there is a wonderful video outlining the history of the Xintiandi area and how the Shikumen houses came to be...More

This is definitely worth a look if you're in the area. Will take about ten minutes to see the whole place. I love visiting old houses in different countries...not a super-memorable attraction but definitely a nice glimpse into old Shanghai.

This museum is small, easy to do to get a glimpse of old shanghai living quarters, and not expensive. It is not super impressive as museums go, but interesting enough to make a 20 minute stop if you are in the neighborhood.

The house is set up in a traditional way with a small museum at the top. The house itself is worth a look when in Xintiandi as there are not many traditional houses left and it gives you an insite into the history of people's...More

This is an interesting little museum located about 5 minutes from the Xintiandi subway station. You won't need to spend much time here, maybe half an hour at most, but for 20 kuai, it's well worth it. See a traditional Shanghai house, and also learn...More

The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a
carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled
with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area
below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most
fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can
afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and
shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park
provides the area with green space and is also home to
