Visited on week day and lots of well behaved school classes also attending. Handy to metro station. Modern, well laid out, sufficient English language used on exhibits, large café with straight food. Upon entry go to top level and then work your way down, take...More

I wasn't really prepared for the scope of this museum when I entered. This place is truly amazing and just when you think you've seen it all, you stumble upon another giant display. There are so many great exhibits to just stare at, but so...More

The best museum we have been to by a mile. Some incredible exhibits including real & cast huge dinosaurs. A must do in Shanghai.

Our group of seven (4 adults, 3 children) visited this museum at the end of the day after many tourist stops in busy Shanghai. At first I was worried, because the kids were tired. As soon as we walked into the museum, they energized! The...More

This place is new and can get really busy. I'd suggest a weekday afternoon visit, after the school children have left. It's a huge space but everything can be seen in an hour or so. The terrible taxidermy animals are my favorite.

Very interesting, large exhibits with latest animation and 4D shows. I enjoyed the showcasing of Shanghai environs, dinosaur exhibits, trees and fossils. The availability of English version of narratives was very useful even though I can read Chinese. Teenagers will enjoy it too.

A great museum to visit for lovers of natural history and dinosaurs - not just for kids though the kids love it. This museum, which opened at its new location in April 2015, is fresh and professional. Located in the Jing'An Sculpture garden, which is...More

While the English is, as is the norm, quite poor on most exhibits, the freshness, interactivity and effort to make things interesting make this one of the best museums in Shanghai. If you visit one museum in Shanghai, I suggest that it be this one.

Spent a few hours here checking out the exhibits. Impressive scope and coverage, and highly family oriented. The landscaping around the building was lovely too. Entrance fee for an adult is 30 RMB.

The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple,
while the main artery of excitement and entertainment
is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French
Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign
residents but displays a more commercial character.
Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and
trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing
Road, but areas off the busy street have the same

The museum is open on all days. I can't remember when they open but I seem to remember it's early, 8 or 9 am, and they close at 5:15pm with the last tickets being sold at 4:45pm.
