We attended the Shanghai Acrobatics show, but it was as much a variety show as an acrobats show. The show certainly included acrobatics, but offered comedy relief between acrobats, and also juggling. The feats of the acrobats are legendary, and some are hard to believe as they involve amazing degrees of strength and dexterity. The comics combine some talent with... More

Booked this show on recommendation of a tour company and Trip Advisor reviews. We found it entertaining but only moderately so. It was an eclectic mix of acrobatics, magic and juggling/circus-like acts. A bit hard to categorize. All the acts had some entertainment value but it just did not seem as cohesive as we have expected. I think it may... More

Matthew Bourne's "Sleeping Beauty" was brilliantly choreographed and performed in the spacious Shanghai musical theatre centre in Shanghai Culture Square. Well worth investing in good seats (300¥) from where you get uninterrupted views of the vast multi-functional stage. Comfortable and roomy seats, fresh facilities but no choice of refreshments other than water purchased at the break. After the performance artists... More

What a fantastic show! Such energy and variety. Some of the acrobats/ gymnasts were unbelievable but there was also a wide range of acts to keep us entertained, including a "family" juggling large (and very heavy) vases!! The gymnasts were astonishing.

This is a must-do while visiting Shanghai. We went as part of our Viking River Cruise package, but I recommend it for anyone visiting Shanghai. I was tired after the show from worrying and anticipating the acrobatics. Several reviews mentioned the Las Vegas Cirque du Soleil shows as being similar, and they are. It's 90 minutes of entertainment, awe, and... More

This show is similar to Cirque du Soleil in that the performance is suitable for all ages and your enjoyment is not dependent on your knowing any particular language. Remember the plate spinner on the old Ed Sullivan TV show? That's the kind of universal entertainment provided. The acrobats are creative and inventive. The theater is small, so you don't... More

What an amazing acrobatic show! Just superb and very entertaining with lots of acrobatic themes, some comedy and juggling show. Incredible skills, I could go on and on about which was my favourite act because there's so many! Great night out. The show goes for about one and a half hour. The Theatre is not too big so the mid ticket... More

My Wife and I had a Great Night watch a Really Good Troop of Performers. The Young Troop performed many totally different shows within the performance and created a Truly Entertaining Experience.

An amazing and breath taking acrobatic show that is a must see when you go to Shanghai. Incredibly cheap by North American standards.

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
