I went to Beachcomber with my husband and 2 preschoolers (aged 2 and 4). In summary, if you (and your kids) have an adventurous attitude it's a great day trip. And the snorkeling off the boat was the highlight of our trip to Fiji.

We booked a daytrip directly with Beachcomber rather than with SouthSea cruises because it was cheaper. I think the reason for this is the Beachcomber boat is small (maybe 15 people) rather than the big SouthSea boats which have indoor areas etc. The seas in this area are always choppy in the afternoon, which made for a very bumpy ride back, and I got absolutely soaked. Our 4 year-old thought it was hilarious every time we got splashed and my 2 year-old managed to sleep in my lap despite it all so it made for a fun and memorable experience for us. If you have a little baby or fussy kids I'd recommend going on a bigger boat. Also note that all boats need to transfer at sea to a tender - I saw another passenger have trouble with this because they weren't very nimble.

The island is quite small but there's a big bar and restaurant with sand floors. There was hardly anyone there the day we went but it looked like a fun place to party on a busy day. The bbq buffet food was fine. We managed to fill the day pretty easily with swimming in the pool, playing minigolf, turtle viewing (nice for the littlies) and snorkeling off the beach. I'm not sure we'd want to stay longer than a day though

The highlight of the day was the fish feeding trip on the tender, which has glass panels on the base to view the corals and many colourful fish. Once at the feeding spot my kids enjoyed throwing bread to the thousands of fish which clearly recognise the sound of the boat as food on the way. The crew lent a mask and snorkel to my husband (I'd brought my own gear). It was calm enough to put the kids goggles and water wings on and they leapt off the boat and loved being in the water looking at the fish. It was a great adventure for them and really special to have them in the water with us. Sadly it was too choppy for another snorkeling trip in the afternoon.

Overall we had a great day trip and I'd recommend it to families with adventurous children

Went to to the island for a day trip, nice place but way overpriced. Deposit for snorkeling gear is $25/pp the actual renting price is ok $5 half day and $10 full day. No loungers out so I asked and yes there are but you have to rent them for $7 and if you want an umbrella it's another $7. There is very little shade, so I spent the day in the sun and sea. The water is amazing, saw baby black tip reef sharks. I didn't have enough water with me and after lunch went to the bar, a big bottle of Fiji Water $8.70 and according to the price list a Tribe is $14 - sorry but that's ridiculous. It is a beautiful island, havent seen the rooms but with those prices I won't consider an overnight stay. Not sure if I will go back.

Took an hour from Denarau to the island, the Main Activity Hall (that has a Great Sound system) has alot of benches which was good because Sun Lounges/Bean Bags were for Hire only. Alcohol was evenly priced imo (beers $5.5 etc), and the Buffet Lunch was surprisingly good (tasted good and could go back for seconds unlike other day trips). SUPs were all worn out but the Kayaks were in good condition, but didnt see any fish around the front beach area. Staff are also great but The Turtle Viewing was a 9/10 dissapointment, its just a dyi concrete fish pond; meer reflecton of the rundown state of the resorts buildings. The Day Trips/Island Parties are worth a try, but I wouldnt stay here.

This is the most expensive waste of time and frustration ever. Sailada tours took us by bus to a boat, the waiting and inconvenience was ridiculous. Took 3 hours to get to the island as Sailada were so unorganized. We only had 2 hours there and then another almost 3 hours back as they kept us waiting at the port before we left on the bus over an hour and again kept us waiting another hour where the boat dropped us back to get the bus. They told us they include drinks and did not stipulate that they only supply beer on the bus and it was not even a nice beer it was bitter and more of a cider, anyway when you get to the island Sailada don’t supply any drinks as was promised there are only ones you can buy so we felt cheated by that as I have it in writing that they supply drinks and that there would be no hidden costs at all, it’s a lie. The boat that Sailada use is ridiculous it’s overpacked and not enough shade for everyone and there is no safety briefing nor did they tell us where if any are any life jackets and it’s about a 50 min transfer in pretty choppy waters each way, we had people screaming at some stages when the boat hit a few big waves. The lunch is disgusting I am sure prison food would be more edible. There are no loungers and only a few umbrellas. Do yourself a favor and find something else to do at this port. If you decide to go anyway you will regret it especially if you go with Sailada tours. The broken coral on the beach is terrible so if you do go take reef shoes.

We took the Beachcomber excursion with Untouched Fiji (they are on FaceBook and get good reviews) from Lautoka for a reasonable price. It included transfers and lunch. There was good snorkeling from the beach and you could buy drinks for a decent price. It is a GREAT way to spend the day!

It’s our first time here in FIJI! Beachcomber Island Resort in Fiji offers an unforgettable tropical escape with exceptional service and stunning surroundings. The island’s natural beauty is simply breathtaking, from its pristine white sandy beaches to the crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling and swimming. The staff are incredibly welcoming and always go above and beyond to make guests feel at home. My kids having so much fun at the beach! The resort’s facilities are excellent, with a variety of activities, great dining options, and comfortable accommodations that blend perfectly with the island’s relaxed atmosphere. Whether you're looking to unwind, explore, or indulge in a bit of adventure, Highly recommended for anyone seeking a slice of paradise!

Definitely worth the trip! Booked with fast thunder boat, boat ride was beautiful and friendly staff made the trip fun. The beachcomber island was crystal clear water and the most beautiful beach I’ve seen. Rocky beach so do bring shoes 😹 Snorkelling in the crystal clear water and fish feeding was incredible and all included in the package. Fish feeding also included and free burger meal for lunch was delicious 🐠🌴 Pics speak for themselves!

Beautiful little island. We had the BEST day here, thanks to the resort and Moana tours.
Nearly 1hr boat trip from Port Denarau to the clear, warm waters and sandy beach.
We were taken out to snorkel from the boat on a nearby reef, and saw plenty of fish & coral. Then it was back to the resort for a yummy lunch.
There was a bar with well prices drinks.
We plan on visiting again to stay on the island for the night.

What’s a waste of time and money! Prison slop food. Not even an umbrella or lounge chair in sight. Same price as much higher end islands like Malamala
