For Montgomerians this may be a wonderful attraction. But it depends on the music. As a river front walk, it is unusually disappointing. At most, it’s a quarter of a mile along the river, and so built up with brick and concrete that there is hardly any sense of being away from the city. I’m sure the concerts are often exciting. But why any tourist with limited time would spend any of it here rather than at Legacy Museum for the National Memorial for Peace and Justice is beyond me.

Nothing special about the place. A notice was posted on the iron gates that blocked access for a closer view of the water and the paddle boat. It looked desolate going through the tunnel and empty area.

What a beautiful park on the river!
A river boat was in dock and made a nice front for the sunset pictures. The grass amphitheater looked like a great venue for a concert. It also looked like they had a kids splash fountain (it was shut off). The park felt like a safe place place for an evening stroll.

We had a nice walk along the river. We saw the riverboat, although it was too early to take it. The displays in the park were informative and well done. We understood the that we were there during off season, so this was just a chance for us to stretch our legs and take a quick walk.

This is the sight where thousands of slaves arrives in Montgomery to be sold. None of this history is discussed in any detail. Where are the historical markers discussing the significance of the rail road, and the river port to the slave trade, and how these people treated as property provided the economic foundation for the development of the city and the state? This history makes people uncomfortable, but it is the history of Montgomery and we need to come to terms with our past, not sweep it under the rug.

Talk about utterly boring. Next time you think about coming to Montgomery, take off your shoe and hit your big tie with a hammer to remind you to never go back. On a serious note, I would rather watch wallpaper paste dry.

Riverfront park is right on the Alabama river. You can watch the sunset here. They also have the second Saturday of the month during warmer months where there will be live music, vendors and food. The Alabama RIver Boat is also in riverfront park as well as the Sand bar.

But not sure how much it costs because ticket office was closed. Read on historical marker that this was the site where the original slaves disembarked when being brought to Alabama in the 1800s

A relaxing place to enjoy the solitude of the riverfront; we went here during the day and it seemed very safe. I imagine during special events it would be very crowded. Kudos to the city for maintaining such an inviting riverfront area with so much to do and see nearby; the ballpark, bars, restaurants, Visitor's Center, Hank Williams Museum......very nice.

Lovely views to be had and a nice walk along the river. The station is here too. I would recommend a stroll.

Why is the splash pad closed on 05/04/2019? It's a very hot day and the people need a place to cool down.

I will be in Montgomery on Friday May 1 through Sunday May 3. I am wanting to know what there is to do around the Riverfront area. Is there a hotel? Are there restaurants, bars, anything to do? We plan to take a dinner cruise Saturday night. I hear there's live entertainment on the dinner cruise,,what type music will it be? Did I hear something about an open air bar? I was hoping there were places there within walking distance to sort of hang out.
