Knowing this was Jefferson Davis' church in Montgomery created interest for us to view this church. It is worth including on a travel itinerary.

I just ducked in for a quick peek of this church as i was walking from the river walk area to the capitol building. The church is beautiful with lots of stained glass. Definitely worth a look if you are in the Montgomery area.

Famous for its age (nearly 200 years old) and the fact that Jefferson Davis and family were members in 1861, St. John's is a Montgomery landmark. Worth coming to hear the pipe organ on Sunday, too!

This church was built in the 1830's, and it was the church home of the President of the Confederacy when Montgomery was the first capital of the Confederacy. The signal from President Jefferson Davis to start the Civil War was transmitted several blocks away from this church. This church still has a thriving congregation, numbering several hundred.
