I stumbled across this place by accident and i'm really glad I did. The place is run by a lovely auntie and she will serve you delicious lychee wine and some free snacks and fruit. I won't spoil the history of this place, it's best...More

it's an unassuming old shop that you could easily miss if you aren't looking for it... and it's full of gems. first off, no sultry bar maids or overwhelming beer auntie - just the nice chatty auntie tending bar. i was a little skeptical about...More

The map of Malacca, and of this bar, is way, way out. It is in Java Lane, just off Jalan Bunga Raya. The map has the name of Java Lane wrong, and has the location the bar a good mile out. The bar, however, and...More

This liquor store (housed in a former opium den, no less) is slightly off the usual Jonker stretch, but worth the detour. The facade and the interior haven't been renovated since the 60s (or possibly earlier) and are only the start of a charming and...More

A place all must visit. Even never saw one like that in the 60s in Singapore. It's just original and awesome and great prices. Musky smell and even an old steel safe behind the Screen. Meet the old couple in their 60s and 70s. Unfortunately...More

Forget hipster bars, this is an authentic old-school bar which is abit crumbly. Serves rice wines and liquors (although they do sell beer). Try out the various flavored wines by the glass! Lychee, rose, coconut, herbal etc

Sin Hiap Hin is a perfect piece of Malacca's intangible heritage: a humble little bar, open to the street, just across the river from the all-too-touristy scrum of Jonker Walk. It appears to have been there for ever, but its clientele has dwindled, and unless...More
