The river is why Malacca came to prominence as it played a role in its development as a major trading centre. Though once a busy river because of that, its importance waned and it became a forgotten and apparently very smelly waterway. That has now changed though as it is now thriving again given a major facelift. As a result... More

Pleasant trip on river boat only marred by the really crappy PA system which was incomprehensible also the very cheap plastic boats, they could learn a trick from Singapore and use electric engines on the boats and reduce the pollution in the river, the river also smells of effluents not the sort of water to get splashed with, other than... Nice boat ride at night, good scenery and a bunch of old building with original architecture can be seen by the river.

The river is at the center of the town, and the boat ride, with a commentary in English, is a nice way of experiencing the town and its colorful houses and shops.

I really love the view from the river cruise. The buildings along the river are very interesting and well maintained.

There is a river cruise and it is worth the ride because though short but interesting. Take the night ride so that it is not so hot, it is about 45-minutes. One could see the tranquil views of colonial buildings, antiquated shophouses, local settlements and ancient bridges as well as modern decorations and local art displays within Malacca. T

I am not sure, but walking along the river I saw the remnants of beauties, wall painting, architecture, stone sidewalk...But all in decrepitude and dirty, and places and restaurants abandoned, close.. What's the matter? Does the city lost the proudness of his heritage and beauties? Some area I was sure if I was in security.

Walking is needed but take a leisurely stroll and plan your destination. Nearby to our hotel at Malacca City. There are also hotels and attractions by the river. Things to try Malacca cendol and ais kacang(sweet dessert). Have river cruise and souvenier shops. Will go there again.
