    Malacca Full Day
Awfully hot weather. But it was a good visit. Would recommend to bring water and small fan along. Shades and comfortable shoes. River cruise was kind of boring. literally fell asleep. but would recommend to ride them at night instead of day where you can see all the bright lights from bars and shoplots long the river.

    Trip to Melaka
Free of charge and kids can enjoy even though there is bit of hiking. Better to bring water and cap for kids. It’s crowded during Malaysian school holidays. If you plan properly, you can visit many museums around the same area.

    Historical Fort
Climbed many steps to the top of the fort. Many huge stones with sculptures, great view to the city, cannons, few tombs for ancients. A Famosa was undergo many attacks for over 2 centuries. Lately, was destructed by British. Short visit but guide needed OR you have to read about.

It’s the must see place on the historical tourist route and given that Melacka was to all effects, the de facto capital of KL for 300 years, its impressive to see what remains of the fort and learn its history.

Nothing much left to see and do, more of a tourist trap although the scene from the height is good and you may admire it.

It’s worth climbing up and seeing, just for the history. But blink and you will miss it. Much better to go to the Sulphanate Palace behind!

A Famosa is an integral part of Melaka history.
Built by the Portuguese in 1512.
Occupied by the Dutch in 1641.
Demolished by the British in 1807.

Only the Porta de Santiago gatehouse and some ruins are left.
Snap some photos with the cannons.

Sad to see that the place was not nicely maintained. Not wheelchair accessible. Thankfully there were information boards around to provide more information and insights to the place!

You see the fort, the sole remnant of Portuguese architecture in this city, as you climb down St Paul’s Hill. Good for a visit & selfies / clicks.
