a very recommendable site, there is a lot of beautiful nature to see, nicely kept by the local forest department, but not much wildlife to see. there is even a little resort with huts and shacks for rent, everything very neat and tidy. there is also a butterfly garden, a lot of instructive boards with interesting information on plants and animals in goa.

We went there with friends on scooters. It was wonderful adventure for us. I mean riding a scooters there, not being there. It is just a wood. We've seen only monkeys in the distance and nothing more. Maybe being there early in the morning would be good idea but in the middle of the day when there is very hot and animals rest was rather waste of time for me. Assuming, nice trip but nothing special about Sanctuary.

The Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary is located in South Goa district, of Goa. The sanctuary houses a nature interpretation centre, cottages, toilets, library, reception area, rescue centre, canteen, children's park, and forest ranger office. It is quite a dense forest with some big trees. The scenic view is good, greenery all over. As far as wildlife is concerned there is not much except squirrels and monkeys. The Butterfly Park is good enough. We could find variety of lovely butterflies. The views along the way, of the mountains are very nice. You can get tea, soft drinks and limited snacks from the cafe back at the entrance. Not any thing great about the sanctuary, but a good day away from the beaches.

Nice place to visit. Last year they had a rescued leopard cub called Julie who was just amazing. This year there were no rescued animals and only a few very tame deer in an enclosure. Out and about in the park only came across monkeys and some very drunk Indian lads climbing up and down into the tree observation point. Great butterfly garden but from an animal conservation point of view has a long way to go. Having said all that there is good reasonably priced accommodation there and the canteen was good. I nice chilled place to spend a night.

This place is about half an hour drive from agonda where we stayed.
You can drive up to the sanctuary gate where you need to buy tickets(or souvenirs).
Then there is mud road which a car can negotiate till some point you take a trail of 700m to a watch tower. We couldnt get on top of it because it was very high for children in our group. But the walk was fun. One can go further the trail or take other ones. There is a river flowing by as well though we didnt get to visit it.
The main difference between other WLS that I had visited from this one was that there is not much driving around here. Instead you can take a trail and walk. Canopy of trees protect you from hot sun (I visited in april end). Absolutely do not expect any wildlife sightings. But if you want to introduce your children to jungles this is a mini adventure.

Bottomline:- If you are staying in south goa and are a nature lover, then it is worth half days visit. If you are staying in north(which already means that you like civilisation more) then dont bother traveling for 2 hours.

This sanctuary is only a half an hrs drive(~10km) from Palolem Beach. We had hired bikes for a few hours in the evening and decided to see the Sanctuary. Private vehicles are allowed inside and the drive is nice. Apart from a few monkeys, birds and a snake we couldn't spot anything. There are forest department rooms available at the entrance of the park.

Don't expect anything while going there, it's good for a nature walk ; nothing beyond it. you won't find anything specific or any thing related to your intention of going there.
