Literati has a good collection of both first hand books and second hand books. They have compartments for different types of genres. They also have a cafe in the area where they have used books and they serve homemade food which is very tasty. It was a very good experience.

If you want to spend some time away from the sea, I suggest you make way to this gorgeous piece of land. This Portuguese-influenced bungalow sits on a lush property ensconced in a quiet residential neighbourhood in Calangute. More importantly, Literati is a bookstore abundant with an interesting collection of books, old, and new. They also house antiquarian books in vintage glass cupboards that is simply soothing and tranquil to look at. If you want to read, you can perch yourself on the comfy couch in the hall and get lost in the world of literature. You could pair your book with a cuppa or a glass of wine and some coconut cake.

In this cultural desert here there is something to help you- books, discussions, yoga groups, Organic food groups & of course, lots of good books.
A cafe too.
I just wish that they would tidy it up a bit & get rid of the blooming dogs!

I love the Litersti Bookstore and Café- it is a really relaxed environment with outdoor places to eat in the large leafy green courtyard. We had the samosas and masala chai and it was all very good at a reasonable price. Nice selection of new and used books inside the old house and with ample seating to use while browsing. The ladies who run the place are very helpful! All in all I just love going there for a quiet break.

What a.fabulous little bookshop in an old Goan house. Lovely quiet, tranquil feel away from the hustle & bustle of Calangute. Even a lovely garden cafe where you can sit and read

This hidden gem is set in the most amazing lush green garden with comfy chairs and hammocks. The food is also amazing, lots of choice! The chocolate brownie was amazing, I definitely recommend it! Overall, a lovely and quiet place to read and eat and I will definitely visit again! 👍☕🍫

If you are near the Candolim beach area of Goa and are interested in books then a visit to this establishment is for you. It is a wonderful bookshop situated in an old house and it is rather like wandering into somebody's private library. There is a very good selection of novels, poetry and non-fiction books both new and second-hand as well as helpful staff and seats to rest on whilst you browse. You can also enjoy a tea or coffee in the shady garden. A great find for the bibliophile

This was a pleasant surprise to come to a cultural evening given by the feminist American Anne Jones. She spoke about women speaking out about rape and assault during wars and non war times through the lens of the camera she had organised in Africa and Thailand. The camera became the voice of the women. Quite a woman but oh so modest about being THE catalyst of transformation! Film night on Thursday evenings. Always something interesting on the boil organised by the Literati female Indian owner. Second hand books in the back room where you can sit quietly or on the veranda overlooking the large garden where Literati can arrange pastas and pizzas from their supplier.
The front room houses modern international and Indian books. It is well stocked but you HAVE to know this bookshop exists as it is down a bumpy road. I was brought thankfully by a British resident.

While Goa is so cosmopolitan and experimental in food and other aspects of life - finding a decent bookstore is hard. The focus is too much on the other brow.
Anyhow, Divya's creation - this elegant, haven of a bookshop makes up for all of Goa in one go. You go up a winding path, under a canopy of green, leave your footwear outside and step into an inviting booklined drawing room, complete with cosy sofas and pleasant clerks. Excellent selection. I recently bought Book 2 of the Ibis Trilogy (hooked as I was by Sea of Poppies) - and was pleasantly surprised to find it autographed by Mr Ghosh himself.
They have lost the little Pizza café (Riccolo?) but are getting another by October. A must visit, if you like something more than just beaches and food and shopping. Closed Mondays
