Visited today with family, very impressive exhibit just opened today. Very large and gorgeous glass and metal works of art; visited two months ago and was surprised that the exhibit space was so small at that time. Now I realize that much of the exhibit space was closed then to set up for the new exhibit. Very much worth the... More

Both the permanent and traveling exhibitions are interesting and memorable. The building offers well laid out exhibits, large areas for receptions, a nice gift shop, water and park views and a nice restaurant with pretty views. Lots of community involvement helps bring some really good traveling exhibits and local residents have provided some beautiful works on loan.

I was very disappointed that 3 rooms were closed for the preparation of a new exhibit to open shortly after my visit. Even the items on display, I finished walking through in 45 minutes. The best part was the Al Hirschfeld exhibit, which is temporary. There was some interesting glasswork, but ultimately I could have skipped this place.

The art museum is situated downtown Huntsville at the edge of a lovely gently shaded park with a very large pond. There is good parking and a nice pizza restaurant adjacent. The museum had two special exhibits when I was there. One featured an extensive collection of paintings by Judy Fish and it was extraordinary! The walls were alive with... More

I went there today and enjoyed the special exhibitions. The sign at the cashier area says photography allowed, just no flash. When I was taking pictures in the exhibition, a security employee informed me that it was not permitted in it. He then proceeded to point at a tiny obscure sign near the exit of the exhibition. I apologized, but... More

I visited on a Thursday night and the admission was $5.00. Oh sure, this isn't a huge museum but it has some lovely collections. I really enjoyed the stunningly beautiful silver animals. The Janet Fish exhibit was lovely and the Hirschfield sketches were fantastic. Definitely worth a visit.

We enjoyed the collection of glass art. If you are looking for a quiet place to spend an hour or two admiring things that are pretty, this is the place.
