A nice pottery shop where you can not only purchase their wares but watch them as they make things. They are not making pottery all the time but when they are it certainly adds to the visit

Home owned and "Homemade". This Pottery place is so sweet. All you want to do is walk around and see each one of these hand crafted pieces and talk with this loving family and their History.

Well worth the ride to Hamilton. Jerry Brown was an exceptional talent and his son has acquired his gift. There are still some of Jerrys original pieces on the shelf for sale. This place takes you back to the way it was. And in a little pottery in Hamilton, Al it was the best of the best.. I really enjoyed the visit and the tour around the business..

We are working on a Alabama, Bi-Centennial Passport Book. You visit each County with places to see and tour and get a stamp in your book. If you go to Marion County, you will end up at Jerry Brown's Pottery. What a gem. they carry on a 9th or 10th generation of pottery making. They specialize in Face Jugs that have been preserved in the Smithsonian. Jerry's son gave us a tour of the workshop and kiln. We bought a piece for our collection of pottery pieces and enjoyed the beautiful drive too. Jr. and his Mom are full of information about the families history.

My wife and I saw a roadside sign and exited I-22/US 78 at Hamilton. Jerry Brown, who founded the Pottery is now deceased and the business has been continued by his wife, son and grandchildren. Brown is nationally known with pottery at the Smithsonian featuring his "face jugs". He followed a family tradition that dates back many generations and founded the Jerry Brown Arts Festival in Hamilton that occurs in early March.

The shop is still an active pottery, although the day we stopped only the store was open. We ended up passing on the face jugs, which were unique but purchased a chicken roaster that came with directions. While we were there, several people stopped in to buy a microwave bacon piece, but again we passed. Prices are reasonable and Mrs. Brown was a delight to speak with as she outlined the history of the pottery. We used the chicken roaster on our return home and found it worked as described.

Worth a stop on an otherwise boring section of the interstate as you drive through Northern Alabama.

It is not often you find a 9th Generation, Smithsonian Potter that is still still cranking out beautiful work. Jerry and Sandra are very special folks and I am proud to call them friends. Their working studio is in the back and a delightful Gallery in the Front. Easy to get to and only a few miles from the interstate. Utilitarian Pottery that make great gifts.
