This was one of the best things we saw on a recent trip to the Alabama Gulf Coast region. The model trains only run on certain days and at certain times, so check their website or call before visiting. There's really three parts to this. There's a train that you can ride around their sort of town square area. There's a train museum, showing some of the history of the area and its relationship to the railroad in the area. And, there's the model train exhibit, which is massive. Its a huge room with four large trains, at least one smaller train and a trolley running through the exhibit. Then men running it are very knowledgeable about the exhibit and are happy to answer any questions you may have. They also have a scavenger hunt sheet that you can use to spot specific items in the exhibit. We'll definitely tour it again when we return to the area. Note that its free, but they do accept donations.

Many of the exhibits as you enter the museum are about the history of Foley. One exhibit featured one of my favorite football players Kenny "The Snake" Stabler who is a native son. The museum also featured other famous people from Foley including the author of Forrest Gump. Next to the museum is a full size train. You can go into the caboose which gives you an idea of the working space that conductors use. The only negative was that the model train museum was closed. Having had model trains as a child I was looking forward to seeing the exhibit. Overall we enjoyed our visit and hopefully when we are in the area in the future the model train exhibit will be open.

Our 3 year old son loves trains. He spent over an hour just watching the model train display run circles. If you are in the area stop by and check them out. We are going back again this week because he had such a great time

The volunteers share knowledge with enthusiasm. This is a fascinating and fun place to visit. The real rail cars are interesting to see. The park is a good place to take a walk.

The display and the tour of the train depot is all free and exceptional, so enjoyed it. The retired gentlemen that give the presentation are great! My grandkids loved it, we would recommend this year after year in Foley Alabama. From the old days, Thomas the train and a circus and a fire barn and fire to a drive in theater, plus much more to see and enjoy

It took me over 30 years of living in this area to finally explore this museum. What a pleasant surprise. The museum itself is pretty small with a limited number of items and stories. The real reason you'll visit, especially with young kids, is for the train ride and model train room. It's pretty amazing.
