Located right across the road from the Hampton Inn and in the middle of everything. They museum documents the history of Fairhope very well. Lots of old photographs, memorabilia, and artifacts. The displays are nicely done and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a small gift shop, of course, and even sell a tea that is grown... More

For several years, while visiting, I would sit across the street at my hotel and wondered what was in this building. On one visit, a man came across the street to get his coffee, and we struck up a conversation. He invited me to go visit. This was the best place to see if you are here. There are many... More

As we walked around town, we spotted this museum. We like to know about the area we are visiting and to some extent, be in touch with its people. The museum is small, yet full of history. the docents at this museum know how to bring the history alive. We so enjoyed the stories and facts about how the town... More

Loved the exhibits, displays and the tour guides at the Fairhope Museum. What a great way to learn about the area than from these local volunteers who delight in sharing the trials and joys of the development of their area. The visit to the museum brought more insight even to walks in this area.

There is so much great, interesting history about Fairhope. From the bustling 1800s when it had a casino down at the pier to the amazing phenomenon of the Jubilees, this museum does a great job of displaying great photos and paraphernalia. Also, at certain times of the year, the museum curator does a bus trip around Fairhope to point out... More

I didn't think I would go in here, but my 5 year old ran in to jump on the antique fire truck. You are not supposed to climb on it, but the volunteer docent was extremely nice to my son and enticed him to get off by showing him the other parts of the exhibit- actually really just offering to... This little gem is in the building of the old gaol. It as an eclectic collection and provides an interesting overview of Fairhope's history. The volunteers who help man the place share their enthusiasm respectfully and will only give you as much as you want to take in, but are ready to answer any questions you have. You may catch... The museum is housed in the old city hall/fire station/police station and jail. The building itself is architecturally interesting as it is Spanish Revival. To house the museum a modern two story glass addition was built on the back facing Bancroft Street. The two styles were blended beautifully by a local architecture firm headed by "Mac" Walcott. The displays are... More

Here's a good place to learn about Fairhope and community through its history. Great information, pictures, and displays. Also a good place to escape the summer heat!
