This monument is in the middle of traffic, like exactly in the middle of where two roads cross. This makes it very hard to see the monument except from a distance. It almost looks like walkways to go out and see/selfie the monument, but it would be taking your life in your own hands and not suggested.

Don't worry about the traffic since you are in the middle of a busy intersection, they will avoid you, they are used to it!

The Boll Weevil part of the sculpture was so much smaller than I thought it was going to be. But then the Boll Weevil is small yet causes so much damage if not controlled. Be aware that this statue is in the middle of downtown in an intersection. Not an easy place to actually get a close up view.

The city of Enterprise erected this monument when the boll weevil was destroying their cotton crops. It statue itself sits in the middle of the square. Many visitors come to take a picture at the monument. Dr George Washington Carver convinced the farmers to switch their crops to peanuts instead, thereby saving the farmers from being ruined.

Oh my goodness, you can't help but smile when you visit the Boll Weevil Monument! It's just such a cute, random little attraction, even though it has some really fascinating history behind it and is the only monument in the world dedicate to an insect. The monument itself is tiny and it's located right in the middle of Main Street... More

In 1919, the citizens of Enterprise, Alabama, erected a monument to show their appreciation to the boll weevil, Most everyone knows that the boll weevil is actually a pest that can destroy acres of cotton plants once infested. But, this monument acknowledges that the infestation that wiped out cotton around Enterprise was acually a blessing. Without cotton, local agriculture had... More
