This is a very large property celebrating old Alabama and helping to interpret local natural history. Starting at a very large Interpretive Center in the middle of the property, not at the entrance, you can follow a long loop boardwalk with multiple exhibits along the way. Then you can wander through many old buildings that have been moved to the park to give you a better understanding of life in rural areas or small towns a hundred or so years ago. The most impressive gem here is the Martin Drugstore, with a working soda fountain and displays of the original store stock on full shelves. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed learning about the entire area. Very reasonable admission price is a plus.

We went to Landmark Park just for an afternoon visit. We had never been there before and weren't sure what to expect. It was a beautiful day so the kids played at the playground and we walked around and looked at the old buildings. We visited the soda fountain and the General Store and the kids all had old timey bottled drinks. We did not have time to visit the planetarium, so we will be going back to do that!

Wonderful little tucked away old farmhouse, complete with blacksmith shop, barn, gazebo and an old store with ice cream!
Nature paths all around areas in the woods and streams with fish and turtles that will come and eat breadcrumbs that you bring during your walk. Several farm animals, you cannot feed, but wonderful look at old southern farm life, captured in time. Wonderful museum for looking at old tools and even star-gazing in a special area. A playground for children too. A great place to bring your family for a wonderful day off the beaten path!

We paid full price and everything was closed. The playground was under construction (on FB it said it would be open in January though no specific date), the museum is closed until further notice. The entire place is not being maintained. Staff was nice enough but they didn’t go out of their way to welcome or be helpful. The farmstead is set up to look like there should be animals... there’s a donkey and cow with a sign that says don’t touch. My parents who live in the area were interested in a membership but after this experience, we won’t be back.

Not sure how or when these other reviews were posted, but I visited this place November 10, 2014 with my Mother and her friend who could not walk far. When we paid admission, we were not advised that the Agricultural Museum was closed (where I thought both ladies could walk). The park appeared deserted save for a few workers. There are lots of other places where one can walk and not have to pay a $4/person fee for the privilege. There were no animals on display and no signs of life other than us and a few workers.

The park has lots of stuff and could be wonderful. But it's on such a big piece of land with so many things, you need a map and guidance from someone who works there to figure anything out. Unfortunately, we didn't encounter any maps or helpful staff until we were ready to go. The girl at the front gate where we checked in handed us a flyer on future things to do rather than a map. The "this way" street signs all basically point in one of two general directions-- yet there are too many permutations of locations beyond that.
They have an old farm house which was fun to walk through. They had a pig, a donkey, and a steer (maybe a cow?). They had an old sugar cane mill which was fun to see.
One cluster of buildings was an old school house, an old church (where kids could ring the church bell!), and an old drug store. The drug store didn't open until much later than advertised- not at 9 am.
Back in one corner was an interpretive exhibit / gift shop. It had live snakes and turtles and a wide variety of stuffed animals. They were hosting a class with live owls which one of my daughters loved. Back in this area was a boardwalk-- I think-- which claimed to have more exhibits farther back.
They also had a top notch playground with one half for younger kids and one half for older kids.
The agricultural museum is closed. I had to call to find that out. No signs or anything indicated such. They also had a large barn which I believe would have fun things in it had they chosen to open it when the park was open.
Overall, I recommend going there. But don't just expect to wander. Pin down an employee for specific directions. Call ahead and make sure things are open. The website will say it is-- but this cannot be trusted. It has a nice mix of history, fun for kids, and nature. It just needs better management.

Our family had a wonderful time here. The kids enjoyed working with their hands planting seeds in the garden and learning how to saw a log. We took a nice stroll through the woods where we came across some musicians playing bag pipe and other instruments I have no idea what they were! It sounded beautiful though. It was slow-paced, the people working there were friendly and the olde fashioned soda shoppe completed the day nicely with some yummy ice cream.

This is a fantastic place for a day trip. There are lots of activities for the family to do together including hiking on trails and a very nice playground! It's an agriculture museum and has several events through the year to showcase agriculture history in Alabama.

A great place for family entertainment, plus Landmark Park has a great walking trail with beautiful flowers, bushes, and trees.
