Maidan has it's own importance as it has got good number of offices and provides access to Birla Planetorium, Victoria memorial, Indian museum if you come by metro. Park Street is the nearest place and one can visit the nearby places.

You can see the open sky of Kolkata from here. You could enjoy the fresh air in so much pollution in Kolkata.

This is an open space good to chill out in winters for picnics and play games. Youngsters play cricket football hockey etc. Its near Victoria Memorial. There is the extension of Red road where parade takes place during the Independence day and Republic Day. Holy Guru Nanak birthday celebrations are done here too due to the vast space to acvodomate the public. One can also take horse carriage ride near this place.

Its one side of the lungs of Kolkata, a place just to sit and relax. You can aceess by umpteen buses or from the Maidan or Park Street metro stations.
