Book a cruise and enjoy the evening/night view of the city. most cruises make a short halt at Belur math so if you're interested you can get down and visit the math. A good break of quite sailing & nice breeze from moving around in the hot weather & crowded places. Do check if there is music, party etc on the boat that day if you are particular about choosing a quite or party ride. Because private cruises sometimes organise customised trips.

This park beside the river Ganges is a good place if you want to spend some time with your girlfriend. There is a good view of the river from the park but nothing more to do here. It is just a place for hangout -that's it.

Park is situated on the banks of the Hooghly River, the river provides a beautiful backdrop. The strategic location of the park in the vicinity of BBD Bagh, enables easy connectivity to all parts of the city. The Park also provides a glimpse of the Howrah Bridge.

This is a stretch of Ganga riverside on the Kolkata side, which had been beautified partly by Government of West Bengal through CMDA,for its ambitious Kolkata city beautification plan. The other part of the same stretch was being maintained apparently by Coal India, one of India's largest Public Limited Company.
Car parking is non-existent and the only entrance is on Strand Road, just opposite to the office of Shipping Corporation of India , at the corner of Hare street. There is a ticket counter and charges are Rs 5 / head for entrance to the park only.
There are countless rides on the inside, meant solely for children. Part of the park maintained by CMDA are way better maintained, than the other part which is extremely ill-maintained by Coal India (shame on them,if they are reading this !)
The CMDA part has rides for kids, which when I went there, yesterday, were being painted and regular repairs and maintenance work was being carried out. There is a nice walkway for a morning or evening walk, which winds its way inside the park. There are some eateries inside, which sell local street food (best avoided,as they are unhygienic ). There are also broken speakers strewn here and there inside the park, belting out Tagore songs (due to poor condition of the speakers, the songs are mostly muffled and tune-less). The gardens are shabby and dead leaves are lying all over the place. From this part you will have a breathtaking view of the Howrah Bridge and the Howrah Station. Walk around and enjoy the cool breeze that flows over the Ganga river. Kids rides start from early evening and continue till 8pm,but they charge separately for each ride.
The part of the Millennium Park maintained by Coal India is horrible to say the least. The guard sits in the shade on a stool, and you have to walk upto him to show him the tickets!! The rides inside this portion are colourless, shabby and unkempt. The persons manning the rides are rude and ill-educated about the rides. No safety features or first-aid box in site. AVOID ALL THE RIDES HERE IN THE PART MAINTAINED BY COAL INDIA.
Its a shame that with so much money and staff,Coal India is a complete failure so long as maintenance of the Park is concerned. The management staff responsible for upkeep of this park should be held responsible for any mishap, which are waiting to happen in this part of the Millennium park

This park is situated on the bank of Hoogly river, known as ganges as well. This park needs to be maintained in a well manner. You'll find couples all over this place all the time, watch out if you are planning to visit here with family.

Dirty, filthy, unclean. The Boat trip taken from the Millenium Park was a pleasant surprise indeed. The 3 hour trip on a Boat with 20 visitors was smooth with excellent snacks and dinner served.

Millennium Park is a riverfront garden along the Hoogly River. The place is an ideal spot for both young couples and family with children. The place is not that well maintained by the authorities as it should have been. The over-bridges connecting the two parks seem to be closed and also the watchtower is closed for some reason. The park has one of the stinkiest toilets, so forget about going there.
The ideal visiting time is at the evening because of the light show. However if you are visiting with your lover to spend some good time, afternoon is best for that as evening would be too crowded.

Millenium Park is situated near the Babughat on the banks of river Ganga. It is nice place to spend couple of hours with your family. The place does not offer much but couple of hours in front of Ganga with friends and that too at very minimum entry fee is itself a good option. You can see small fishing boats and launches passing by and the evening atmosphere with sun setting is quite amazing. There is also few rides available for children but you will have to pay for such rides apart from entry fees.
But try to come out of the park before it is totally dark as it becomes lover's paradise as some one has already mentioned in his review. Toilets are also not clean and try to avoid them unless it is absolutely necessary. Otherwise park is clean with police roaming around. Foods available are ok and not that costly. Over all the park deserve 4 stars rating!

The authorities have done well to upgrade the infrastructure including lighting arrangements, so that visitors can have pure fun, with great view of Hooghly River (along with Howrah Bridge and Vivekananda Setu lit in nights), with adequate safety. The only thing I don't like is scores of "soulmates" turning this place into a New York Park (in terms of bodily contacts), while kids stare at them while riding, and making their parents uncomfortable. There should be a separate block for those love-birds, in my opinion, as they don't seem to have enough in their four-walls.

I want to take the ferry is it available in the evening ? What are the timings ?
Written 6 April 2019
We booked the Ferry through our Hotel. Took a cab and went over to the starting point at 7.00 pm which enabled us to avoid mid day heat and see the sunset.

Getting a parking is a bit tricky in that region. As much as I recall parking is not allowed on strand-road, but you may try the side roads, like the one beside SBI head office 'Sammridhhi Bhawan', the huge building opposite to floatale. Best is to go there and sick local help!

Yes, opposite to the Millenium Park there is a car parking but mostly occupied by government and office cars. I would advise you to go on a holiday, preferably SUNDAYS or any PUBLIC HOLIDAY.
