I had a wonderful day tour of Kolkata in November 2019 with Kolkata Magic. As a single woman travelling for work, I really appreciated the efficiency of a guide and car to take me around the city in comfort and safety. My communication with Kolkata Magic was excellent from start to finish, and I felt that, despite my very limited time in Kolkata, I left with an excellent overview of the city. My guide also gave me a great tip for the following day - an excursion to the Botanical Gardens. It is a bit of a trek in the traffic, but well worth it provided that you hire the local Gardens guide (ask at the entrance booth for his phone number) in an electric golf cart. Do NOT think that you can walk it on your own unless you have many hours to spare...I hope to return to Kolkata and would definitely recommend Kolkata Magic to other visitors.

Our family had a fascinating experience during our 4-day visit to Kolkata in November 2018, thanks to our knowledgeable guide Mr. Manabendra Nag and the excellent organisation from the Magic Tours of India team. Our tours included Kolkata's "must-sees", the New Market, the Bengal Renaissance Walk, and a NGO-Animal Clinic Love N Care for Animals, whose work we wanted to learn more of. Mr. Nag brought the city's history to life and his engaging nature gave us the opportunity to chat with locals to get an idea of everyday life here. Mr. Nag, who knows the city and it's unique Bengali culture well, made us aware of a city facing great challenges and how people then and now contributed to its making. We were provided with a comfortable car, driven by a professional and punctual driver, who dropped us off and picked us up after our walking tours with Mr. Nag. They took good care of us concerning safety and health issues. Our stay in Kolkata was the last leg of a enlightening 2-week-tour covering Varanasi, Sarnath, Bodhgaya, Patna, Darjeeling and Kolkata, developed for us as an individual trip by the Magic team, which selected our hotels carefully, provided competent guides, and organised reliable car, air and train travel through northeast India and assisted us throughout our trip. We highly recommend Magic Tours of India for their authentic city-programs and for affordable, individual tours of India.

We took a half-day tour with Kolkata Magic to see the Dakshineswar and Belur Math temples, and it was wonderful — a highlight of our trip to Kolkata so far. After a hassle-free booking experience via email, we were picked up bang on time in a comfortable (air-conditioned!) vehicle. Our guide, Malini, was incredibly knowledgeable in addition to being friendly, relaxed and professional. She answered all our additional questions about the temples and religion in India generally, and was full of great ideas on other places to see and where to eat. We’d book with Kolkata Magic again in a heartbeat.

We did the Kolkata Heritage Walk with guide Malini. She sure knows her history and she regaled us with stories about the important iconic buildings of the Raj and the people that lived there or built the monumental structures. All in all it was interesting and a fun thing to do!!

We really enjoyed our day with Manab who is a true Kolkata gentleman. The tour was very flexible to our needs and not rushed. If we are ever in Kolkata again we would love to explore other parts of this fascinating city with Manab's guidance.

My tour with Ms Malini was so successful that I booked another tour with the company for my time in Delhi, which also did not disappoint!
Ms Malini is an excellent guide, she shares interesting historical and local knowledge through her very personable nature - which makes the day most enjoyable, and has added immense value to my experience of Kolkata.
As a solo female traveller in Kolkata & India for the first time, walking the streets alone was intimidating, thus limiting my exploration of the city. So I decided to book a tour with Kolkata Magic, and it was the best thing I did. I saw so much of the city.. from the monuments, to local streets and bazaars. It is also so valuable because I could ask all the questions on my mind about the city and the people to someone who is a local. Why this was all so helpful - because it helped shift my intimidation of the city, where I felt much more confident and able to explore Kolkata further after the tour.
I would happily recommend Kolkata Magic to everyone, the whole team have been lovely, the process of booking is very easy, their communication is prompt, and they are trustworthy and reliable. Thank you!

We sailed on Oceania Nautica which included 4 cities in India. I found Magic Tours had tours in all 4 cities. We visited the 1000-pillared Jain Temple. Actually there are not 100 pillars but very interesting. The drive through the back country roads was lovely and lots of opportunities to take pictures. The tour of the Soans Farm was done by the owner. Didn’t know there were so many varieties of bamboo. Because we had some extra time our guide took us to a cashew processing plant off the beaten path. We bought cashews they packaged for us as we waited. We highly recommend Mangalore Magic. They were very flexible and accommodating to our schedule and took us places we never expected to see.

We thoroughly enjoyed our slightly modified version of the Kolkata Must-Sees tour. Our lovely guide Mr Nag, who reminded me of a gentle uncle picked us up on time at our Park Plaza Ballygunge Hotel. We stopped first at the stunning Birla Temple close to our hotel which he explained beautifully. We found the next part of the tour less interesting - the drive through BBD Bagh and visiting St Johns church. We loved the walk through Kolkata flower markets , and the highlight of the tour for us was crossing Howrah Bridge on foot along with some of the millions of others who do this daily. Howrah Bridge is just seething with humanity, and crossing it on foot is quite an experience which we loved, despite getting drenched in a monsoon downpour! Spending time on the other side at a Ghat going down to the Ganges was awesome, going down and blessing our heads with water from Mother Ganges, and watching people bathing in the Ganges whilst our guide located our driver. Following this we visited Victoria Memorial which was very photogenic from the outside , and plenty of history inside if you are interested. We also loved our final stop visiting Kumar Tuli where the clay statues for Durga puja are made. Our lunch stop was at Haldiram's restaurant where all 3 of us shared a vegetarian thali for Rs 200. We were somewhat wary of eating out but our guide assured us it was safe to eat cooked food there. I have visited Kolkata to see relatives many times, but this is the first time I have ever taken a tour, and I am very glad we did, as I got to experience parts of Kolkata ( like the flower market, crossing Howrah Bridge, the Ghat, Kumar Tuli) that I had never seen before. If you have a chance, I do highly recommend booking a tour with Kolkata Magic.
