Clean, comfortable, cheap, environmentally friendly, on-time transportation -- what's not to like? I have used the Kolkata Metro periodically from its very early days, and I prefer the Metro over all other public transport systems in Kolkata, even if it means I have to walk some distance to get to the Metro stop(s). Hope the additional lines being built or... More

A lifeline for Kolkatians .The old workhorse is still being maintained. Ticket rates are meagre starting from Rs.5. If you are within range of a metro station just take a ride to your destination and beat the overground traffic. I rode with my 6 year old kid from Central to Rabindra Sadan and again from Esplanade to Central 2 days... More

Highly recommend traveling by metro if you are going north south. It's easy to use. You by a token at the window by saying the stop you are going to and then hop on. Not super packed either.

I have used the Metro extensively during my visits to Kolkata. Saves a lot of time if the destination is on the Metro route.
