Each ticket costs includes snacks. A lot is often heard about Kolkata's dwindling traffic system and how its age-old trams, means of transport that are still existing only in this part of India, are adding to the commuters' woes. There have even been talks of doing away with old tram cars for good and redesigning the city's traffic network. However, trams are still plying in Kolkata and measures are being taken to resuscitate the 133-year-old Calcutta Tramways Company. Great Experience. The only city in Asia with more than 100 years old tram service. The trams are old, but, still, work. We were offered free pick up and drop. The guide was polite.

Very well organised tour. The guide was very polite and educated us about the heritage of Kolkata. We got complimentary photo prints and Tram Tour Badges.

We visited Kolkatta on 26th of May. I wanted my Son to have an experience of the Tram ride. We took a ride from Rashbehari to Kalighat. It was a memorable ride. The ticket costed Rs12 for both of us. The Tram had WIFI in it. The conductor was cordial and helped me get down at the right stop. Sad to see the bad condition of the tram and heritage going down the lanes.

The trip was cancelled by the tour operator due to some operational issues buty entire amount for 2 people was deducted and I have not received a discount till date. The person who had reached out claims that he is neither from trip advisor not from viator ( the operator) do he can only follow up and not refund. The contact number provided in the listing is fake and leads to a wrong number. Trip advisor has no helpline number and even their social media handles don't respond. I would recommend not booking via this app or this trip as it is not reliable.

Tram depot quite hard to find but when got there no one there. Men in depot helped me, they had not heard of this tour. Wandered around but nobody remotely like other tourists there, so left. My hotel (Oberoi) tried to ring the number given, as did men in office, but no reply. VERY DISAPPOINTED. This trip was expensive. I expect a refund or will be contacting the police.

A must take joy ride if you are visiting the city for the first time. It’s very cheap and convenient mode of public transport but sadly the number of users is dwindling reducing the government revenue. Take the joyride before it disappears in the wave of modernisation !

It is our first visit to Kolkata.
Tram tour was a good experience, got view of real city life. Hotel pick up and drop was arranged.
The only point is non availability of tram for some routes due to last minute circumstances and metro work.
Overall our experience was good.

My wife and family think I am a loony for liking trams, trains and the like, especially heritage items. So this tour appealed and was not a disappointment. The trams are truely heritage, with the mechanisms and regulator going back to circa 1902. They still work well, although the body is marginal. Usual aircon by opening all the windows. My guide was excellent and was passionate about the trams. The network is unfortunately now very small, as traffic pressures accumulate. An early start avoided most problems. The Metro development is further limiting the routes, but they hope for a heritage track in future, using a park route away from traffic. In addition we saw other aspects of the city, including South Park St Cemetery and Sisters of Charity home. Very good.

The tram tour was good..I mean we loved the ride on the trams. The organizer Mr. Arif is a polite person, he sent a car to pick up n drop us to our hotel. He even treated us to some cheats But for 2000 per person I dont think we were satisfied.

Hi, according to LP 2019, there are two renovated heritage tram departs at 0830 from esplanade. Does anyone know it is correct or not?
Tried to look for details on official website of the tram company but nothing is there..

Are the heritage tram rides still running? I am asking this because the Dalhousie Square area has been taken over for building the underground metro station of EW Metro.

I am sharing what a friend of mine told to me.
With a capacity of 24 and equipped with a television and FM radio, the AC tram runs four rides daily to the north and south of the city.
The early morning ride starts at 7 am (the reporting time for the same is 6.30 am) and three others start at 3, 5, and 7 pm.
The tram starts from the Esplanade tram depot and comes back there at the end of each trip.
The morning trip takes one to the north of the city while the afternoon/evening ones cover the south.
Each trip costs Rs 260, including refreshments.
On the itinerary for the north Kolkata trip are the iconic Governor House, Hastings House, Curzon Park, Jorasanko Thakurbari (Rabindranath Tagore's ancestral home), Jorasanko Rajbari, Nakhoda Masjid (city's principal mosque), Star Theatre, College Street etc.
During this trip, the tram takes a small break at Shyambazar tram depot in north Kolkata before meandering its way back.
The sprawling Maidan and the famous Victoria Memorial can be seen in the afternoon tours.
The south-bound tram makes a brief stop-over at the Maidan.
Tickets for the AC tram can be booked either online or at the Esplanade terminus.
