I did both a day hike and the 6-day Singalila Ridge Trek with Adventures Unlimited. Catherine and Gautam were incredibly welcoming and put me at ease from the start! They really went above and beyond, not only ensuring that my treks went well, but also helping me navigate logistics throughout my time in Darjeeling. I started off with a day hike to a tea garden with Ashish. He was a wonderful guide, really fun to chat with a knowledgable about the area. The hike was near his village, so I had the chance to have lunch at his neighbor's house, which was a lovely experience. It was a great day and a perfect way to get ready for the longer trek! As for the trek, I ended up doing an alternate version of Singalila Ridge to avoid some of the crowds along the usual route. This meant lots of peaceful homestays in idyllic settings while still being able to enjoy a wonderful sunrise from Phalut. Each homestay was comfortable, with probably the best (and most) food I've ever enjoyed on a trek. It was also lovely to be able to stop for tea and water along the way. Tenzi was a fantastic guide - consistently attentive and helpful, with a thorough knowledge of wildlife (especially birds). Being from the area himself, he also had a great rapport with the local communities, which added to the positive experience. Thank you guys so much for helping to make my trip to Darjeeling unforgettable - hoping to come back someday for mountain biking or trekking in Sikkim!

Took a beautiful day hike upto Tonglu/Tumling with kids age 6 and 10. Well organized, excellent guide and local food. Foggy weather at high altitude meant we couldn't view any of the Himalayan peaks (Kanchenjunga) but we really enjoyed the hike regardless. Catherine, Gautham and other staff were very helpful and went out of their way to guide us in figuring out other local activities in Darjeeling as well. Hoping to plan a trip to Sikkim and this time plan ahead for more hikes with Adventures..

We had a fantastic experience with Adventures Unlimited! We did the overnight trek to Tonglu. Catherine was extremely communicative and did an excellent job answering our questions and working out all of the logistical details. We did not have to worry at all about transportation, food, accommodations, etc., which was a welcome relief, and the entire experience ran exceptionally smoothly. Our local guide was warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the trek, local community, and environment. He took the time to answer all of our questions in depth and explained the local fauna and cultural traditions of the region, really making for an immersive and fascinating experience. The trek itself was beautiful and fun, just the right amount of challenging, and the trail was right on the border, taking us in and out of Nepal, which added to the experience. Our guide was flexible and open to customizing our trip; for example, he took us a bit further than originally planned when we reached Tonglu faster than expected, a huge bonus that really added to our experience. We ate a variety of delicious and hearty meals that felt very authentic and gave us a sampling of the local cuisine. I have only positive things to say about the trek, and I would highly recommend Adventures Unlimited to anyone interested in an authentic, adventurous, well-organized, and memorable experience in the Darjeeling region.
