The views of Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling is one of the best outcome for the Darjeeling visit. The views are best in the post-monsoon till early summer when the sky is clear. The full range of Kanchenjunga termed sleeping Buddha is visible that time.

On a clear day, the view of Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling is simply breathtaking. One can stand and keep looking at it for a long long time. Undoubtedly the view of Kanchenjunga has to be the best attraction of Darjeeling. I reckon October - December could be the best months for the sighting.

we recently visited chota mangwa , about 50 km uphill from siliguri, near teesta bazar. if u want peace , tranquility and enjoy nature at its best ..this has to be the place...
after working for 5-6 months a break was due...so this holi vacation we headed to darjeeling blossom...a small eco resort run by mr. pradhan in chota mangwa..by d way, itz the only place of staying thr...it doesnt boast of 5 star facilities but basic amenities are provided by them...this is the place where u can enjoy an evening stroll holding hand in hand with ur partner, view the magnificent kanchanjunga sipping darjeeling tea from ur balcony, enjoy chirping of some unknown birds and fill ur lungs with fresh oxygen. mr. pradhan will happily guide u to the neighboring fruit orchards. u hv the liberty to pick fresh oranges, avocado ....evening can be spent just under moonlit sky..nature rejuvenates both soul n body here ......this weekend trip was just picture perfect for me nd my partner...just the way we wished to be wid each other.....

Travellers,
One of the amazing place to visit at least once in a lifetime!!!!
To see this spectacular sunrise , you need to go to Tiger hill top as early as around 3.30 am.The place starts to get crowded very soon. There are no such facilities to view from the top. It's a open plain ground. I'm not sure if some facility is available now .You can get hot coffee to sip in chilly windy morning , as there are many vendors who will be selling coffee.Locate yourself a comfortable place to view . You can see the miracle happen as your watch ticks near 6:00 am. You can see how beautifully the light starts to dissolve the darkness. As you keep viewing , an amazing thing awaits - The life giver of the Earth -The Sun slowly, gracefully emerges from a thick blanket of clouds like a bright orange ball.It is one of the most beautiful sight that I have seen. It looks like someone is popping a bright red ball from below the clouds. The sun starts appearing just as a tiny reddish orange ball and starts to engulf the entire place by its brightness. The sun's first ray falls om Mount Kanchenjunga , you can see how the entire snow capped mountain appears reddish when Sun light starts to fall on it.The saga of sun rise continues with the sun slowly emerging and rising above the horizon with changing colors finally leading to yellow. The snow capped Mountain Kanchenjunga now appears splendid. One of the engineering feats of nature !!!!
Note:
1. Take a torch so that it will be helpful in the early morning to find the way.
2. Wear Sweater/Jackets,Gloves,Cap to keep yourself warm as it will be very cold .
3. Make way early to the place and locate comfortable place to view the Sunrise
4. There are no clean public toilets nearby.
5. There is no entrance fee.
6. Proper signboards are missing in the place and hence need to be cautious.
7. Avoid during cloudy and rainy season
8. Enjoy the Sunrise, Don't forget the camera :)

Over the hyped Sikkim area, I decided to visit Darjeeling and to do a five day trek in Singalila National Park. The trek started in Maneybhanjang, west of Darjeeling. One then treks along the mountain range, at an altitude of around 3'500 above sea level. The track is also used by old 4x4 Land Rover's, so no particular skills are required. But you need to be aware of the altitude and take it slowly. Overnight stay is in simple huts, where you get tasty but simple meals. Night stops include Mt. Sandakphu at 3636 meters and Mt. Phalut. From these mountains, as well as during most of the walk, you have a fantastic view over the Himalayans, including Mt. Everest and Mt. Kunchenjunga. Depending on the time of year, you may find the rodhodendrons in blossom, or other alpine flowers. On the last day, we walked all the way from Phalut to Rimbek, from where we returned to Darjeeling by shared transport the morning after.
As this is within the national park, you are obliged to do this trek with a certified tour guide. I shopped around in Darjeeling, and booked the trek with Deepak Tours, at a very reasonable INR 2'500/day, all cost included (except bottled water, soft drinks etc.). You trek along the Nepali-Indio border, so you must carry your passport, as you have to register several times with military posts on the way. Compared to the almost "crowded" treks in Nepal, I enjoyed the serenity and beauty of the landscape, with very little other tourists aournd. I can highly recommend this trek, which is quite easy, once you get accustumed to the hight (usually you stay in Darjeeling before, so it is not a big deal).

I and my wife visited Tiger Hill, we reached at 5:00 AM. The best part is to see Sun rise from there . Make sure you should wear Winter clothes before going there.

For me the word Kanchenjunga depicts all its meaning. The beautiful snowy mountain range and its mesmerizing beauty take you to heaven.
Colour of Kanchenjunga changes every time through out the day. During sunrise it become red, during day it become yellow and during sunset golden. Wow ! what a beauty.

You can buy genuine Cashmira shawls in Darjeeling, at a shop in the main street, near the Lunar Hotel. I paid $104 for three.

thnx a lotttt... btw..wht's the price range of wollen stafs nd kashmeri shawl??
Written 18 January 2019
Good prices, but be prepared to bargain hard. The more you buy the cheaper. I paid the equivalent of £25 for a baby yak wool scarf, but pashmina cheaper than that. Check the quality, there are cheap ones, but they are lower quality.

Darjeeling is most famous for Tea and that you can find in many stores viz. Golden Tips & Nathmull's on the Mall. Both of these have a number of outlets throughout Darjeeling. Besides, there are other shops where you will find quality tea.
Then comes the woolens etc. If you want quality ones you can get them on the Mall Road shops, cheaper ones are also available there. Then there are the cheap Mall Market, Mahakal Market etc where you may get a good deal by bargaining. A shopping Mall named The Rink is also there beside Big Bazar, but please check the prices. Memento and curio may be bought from the shops on the Mall. Hope this serves your purpose.

I'm planning to visit on Jan' 19 last week. how would be the weather? Is 2 nights in darjeeling will justify the visit or we need to stay more?
Written 9 October 2018
During January you will get clear weather but it will be chilly. At this time you will get a clear view of Kanchenjunga. I have visited Darjeeling from 21st December'18 to 24th December'18. The minimum temperature was 2 degree centigrade during my visit.
