One from the oldest Monastery, peaceful place. As it is the oldest you will not find great infrastructure here, but yes definitely a rich culture. There were not many tourist when we visited the place, from Darjeeling main city we went till Ghoom by a public transport jeep 10 Rs per person.

Said to be the oldest monastery in Darjeeling, the Ghoom Monastery is a place where one finds solace. Pity it is so crowded with tourists who are constantly clicking pics that the place looses its charm of being a place of worship where serenity prevails. I would love to go once again but when not crowded so that I can... More

The monastery itself is not very big or exceptional. But, this is the oldest Tibetan buddhist monastery in Darjeeling and it is a must visit for this very reason.

It was decidedly on my to -do list. It was at the foot of the driveway of the Sterling Resort Khush Alaya. Because of the steep ascent we almost never visited the place. But on the last day of our stay I stopped on our way out. It was well worth a visit. Calmness and peace prevailed within..they let you... More

This place is amazingly maintained... A large idol of Buddha is situated over there inside the monastery and the wall paintings are exclusive...A piece of Buddhist culture can be experienced in this sacred place..The atmosphere inside is calm and spiritual..An unexplainable experience to cherish for ever..

Went there near closing time after the Toy Train ride, it's close by, short walk. A monk was so kind to let us in and keep it open a while longer. No hawkers or crowds of tourists which gave this a special feel. Small monastery but very nice lay out.

There are many Buddhists at the place so it makes sense to have a monastery added to your visits. We visited Ghoom after the sunrise seeing at Tiger Hill as it is on the way. Little walking required, but you can finish it off quickly.
