One of the best place to visit while in Darjeeling. You can get down into the river stream to soak ypur legs in the clean water . Boating is open in small lake. Food stalls serve nice momos etc. Nice environment , greenery, lake, river make it a wonderful experience.

Very beautiful and peaceful place... One star less as it's neglected by tourists & so by locals too... Our driver cum guide was himself taking tourists there after almost 15 months. During 45 minutes spent there, only 3-4 cars arrived. Where as near Rock garden hundreds of tourists flocked which we decided to skip looking at small place & huge crowd.

This place has tremendous potential, but it is extremely dirty, toilet has s*it from the last person who visited, stench should definitely be able to drive the devil from there.
EVERYWHERE in the park there is litter, there is a place for boating but the boats are terrible in condition.
Word of free advice: I saw a few cherry blossom trees, Google up 'sakura cherry blossoms' and see how you can mint money by turning this place into something similar, since the weather is conducive for it.

I don't know why Tripadvisor has clubbed reviews for both Barbotey Rock Garden (BRG) and Ganga Maya Park together when they are 2 separate parks 3-4 km. apart. Anyway, since I have already written a review for BRG, here is one for the latter. This park is 3-4 km. further down and beyond BRG. There is an entrance fee of Rs. 20. This park is in a valley with a stream flowing right through and walkways are there on both sides. The one major difference here (compared to BRG) is that walking is at much more level height instead of the steep climb in BRG. Hence it is suitable for the elderly / less fit. There are food stalls available outside and inside the park. The path goes quite deep into the greenery and is accompanied by flowering shrubs and trees plus rocks and the gurgling stream. On the other side of the stream is a pond where pedal boats are there for tourists to enjoy some boating. If you really go far away from the entrance, one can have totally undisturbed moments which he can while away reading a book, painting a picture or simply admiring the natural scenery. However, just as I stated in my review of BRG, there is no public transport and one has to hire a vehicle. A good idea would be to hire a full day's taxi and see various sightseeing points or hire for half-a-day and cover Batsia Loop, Ghum Rly.Stn. and monastery plus these 2 gardens.
