    Sunrise at its best!
Awesome view during sunrise! It is reachable by car but the trick is to reach tiger hill by 4am to avoid walking to the point as it gets very crowded post that. We went there in November and was rewarded by the most beautiful sunrise!

Everest and Kanchejunga view at the same time!!
I went in off season. It was cloudy. No sunrise. Hence, no Kanchenjunga, or Everest view. Damn! But this is a must visit place, where you can see both the mountain peaks at the same time. The sunrise view makes them glow like gold. Its peaceful, close to nature and smooth road.

    Sunrise not to be missed
Requires a token for the tourist company to take you there for sunrise viewing. Even then, there were hundreds of cars and may be a thousand people packed shoulder to shoulder in off-season! Got there almost 2 hours before sun rise to get the front row and stood shivering in the cold the whole time. It was all worth it once the sun came up. The main attraction is to see the sun's reflection on the Kangchenjunga mountain changing colors as it comes up. Took more than half hour for our car to leave the area and go back to town.

    Solo Tip
Best spot for witnessing the rising sun above the 'Queen of Hills', casting it's golden rays on the snow capped peaks of the mighty Kanchenjunga mountain range. The place offers a complete panoramic view of the Kanchenjunga mountain range. It is open throughout the day, but most of the tourists prefer to visit this place early in the morning to witness the golden peaks. It is advised to visit here as early as possible (around 4:00 - 4:30 am) to reach the nearest point, to avoid long walks. It is also advised to carry warm clothes as the weather gets really cold early in the morning and the gushing winds make it impossible to withstand the cold, also there's no shelter at the top to protect from the winds. We carried all the layers of warm clothes still we needed to buy additional shawls.

The view is beautiful but the crowds are annoying. Darjeeling has many beautiful views but a lot of 'tourists' come to Tiger Hill for the sunrise since it is the highest point in the area. Yes it is freezing cold especially starting off early in the morning but that is expected and it is a good experience. The shared taxi takes us to a parking point where we start walking up for a few minutes. When we reach the top there is a observatory watchtower plus a sizeable ground area from where to view the sunrise. The only problem is that the observatory was packed with noisy tourists so there was no chance to go up. On the ground area most of the people were right at the edge of the railing crowding it with their arms in the air capturing pics and videos. So it was tough for anyone behind to actually enjoy the view. There was a lot of space behind on the open grounds but these people thought that crowding the barricade a couple of meters ahead would give them a closer view of the sunrise. Honestly if everyone just sat calmly on the grounds it would be so peaceful.. The problem is the mentality of the tourists plus they just visit this place to tick it off their to-do list in Darjeeling. Then some will feel entitled to blast their own bollywood songs and disturb the peace. There is a huge cheer when the sun rises which i found quite pretentious to be honest. Would not do this trip again.

We walked up from Jorebungalow. Recommend this only if you start at 4:00 am, to be ahead of the endless rush of fume and dust spewing jeeps. Thousands at the top, with huge viewing structure useable, but still under construction. Interestingly, while we were focused on the High Himalaya views, most were focused on the sunrise to the east. So photo ops easier for us. After the thousands rushed out to the next stop on the jeep tour, the walk down was absolutely beautiful in solitude.

It's crazy hoe popular this place is for sunrise...most guides arrive just after 4am for a630 sunrise so it's freezing cold whilst you wait. There are the usual stalls selling beanies/ gloves and of course chai wallahs. The sunrises and slowly the peals on the mountains are illuminated.... it's really beautiful to see (aside from the throngs of people there).
Do NOT attempt to use toilets there- they are revolting! Go in a bush before the sun comes up.

No doubt is the weather is clear, then this is a worthwhile trip, however if there is going to be cloud, do not bother. The top of the hill resemble a builders site, with barrels of burning stinking plastic rubbish. It does not even begin to meet the hype and we were advised that there are other places in Darjeeling where you can see the Himalayas when the weather is clear.

We went to the Tiger hill much before the dawn with the hopes of catching the glimpse of the mighty Kanchenjunga. But to our surprise we found that the best spots were already taken and it was a hefty crowd , we saw people shaking in that freezing cold and covering their faces and mouths with their hands more to keep them warm and not for the lurking fear of the dying second wave of Coronavirus. But I firmly believe that in the mountains luck plays a major role in sighting anything with snow. And the snow gods weren't happy at us for some reason and a thick layer of cloud came over and covered the entire sky and there went our hopes of sighting Kanchenjunga.
But you know as they say, hope is what keeps us alive and we saw that in the crowd there as noone moved from their position still hoping that they can see the peak soon. Unable to get a good spot we started looking around the area and we noticed that we can see the entire 360 degrees around us and suddenly I saw the first rays of light touching the forests at an angle where no one was looking. It was a serene sight and as a reflex my hands straightway went for the camera to capture this beautiful landscape where the eroded soil gave an impression of a waterfall moving like a reptile from the forest.
We were happy that we got something out there and I will always remember to look around for life can give you gifts from unexpected sources.
" Some other day " I murmured to Mt. Kanchenjunga and left.

This is an important place of Darjeeling tour from where we see beautiful sunrise and reflection of the same in Kanchanjunga mountain. We wake up at 3.30 AM, drive to this place in early morning and what we see is pathetic- incomplete construction ( from last few years) of observatory, no lights (expected to use mobile tourch), no guides, no control on public, you click any good pic and see scaffoldings are there. No stairs.
I am surprised, how this (the most important place of Darjeeling tour) is being administrated.
They know very well that tourists spend time and money, waking up at 3.30 AM and waiting at this place at 7deg C indicates how important it is.

This is a must go place when you are in Darjeeling. You need to start by 4 am to reach near the sunrise view point . You have a huge crowd waiting out here . You must wear heavy woollen . cap and gloves . Get your camera charged . The sunrise is okay but the reflection on the majestic Himalayan range is fascinating. The colour , the feel and the sound of the camera clicks will make this trip an experience for lifetime . Yes , you need to be lucky . While coming back see the old Ghoom Monastery near Sterling Resort and the Batasia Loop. This is a good way to start a day in Darj !

Tiger hills is a fantastic place to see the sunrise. Sun rises slowly covering the entire horizon with orange color and illuminates the mountain range. If there are no clouds you can witness a spectacular sunrise from here. A must visit place

We reached the viewing point by 4.00 am. It was a clear day, the sun rise was @ 5.25 am. It was crowded and because we reached the high point quite early we had a great view of the sun rise.
