The building itself is really nice and well maintained, the environment is much better than some places in the city, it's clean and without much wired smell, although the entrance is not well controlled, not many strange people there inside the station. Food, water are available in the station, and the instructions are well given, very clear.
If you're a fan of trains, this station is strongly recommended to go and take a look. There are many different kinds of train that you can take pictures.

It's British Era architecture gives it a grand and majestic look. The square outside the station(in front of Moore market station)is beautiful and is a great place to relax. The station is one of the cleanest I have ever travelled to and also one of the best connected with a metro station just outside and park station opposite it from where you can catch local trains(There is a subway connecting park station and central station but its a pain if you have luggage as there are no escalators). It has many good eating places too such as KFC and Adyar anand bhavan where you can eat food while waiting for your train.Overall a well maintained railway station and a famous landmark of Chennai.

I visited this fascinating RED building touring all the british buildings of chennai. I enjoyed this building the most. The british mixed their architecture with indo saracenic, similar to mumbai and calcutta with their train stations. I am always amazed at India's architecture, this is another example of amazement. I took many photos here inside and out. This is definitely in the top 3 things to see if you come to chennai.

One of the most important and iconic places in chennai . Lots and lots of express trains starts from chennai central . It is much cleaner than what it used to be before . They maintain it so well. Kudos to the government and everyone involved . Lots of stalls around the station .u will get idly vada , juice , medicines etc etc inside the station . Large boards displaying the status of trains and which platform they leave . I just do it know the quality of water that they sell - the one where they filter it and give u and also the bottled ones . I fell sick drinking this water . Avoid buying water from station. If not for this , it was a good experience overall ..

The railway station in Chennai is well maintained and the building itself makes a very good impression as nicely designed, both practical and esthetically pleasing. It was built in 1870s.

If I include a railway station in must to visit spots list of a place then would it be exaggeration.?? Certainly not, as MGR Chennai Central is worth spending some time. The cleanliness and hygiene they maintain here is worth praising including other basic facilities.

The Retiring rooms/Dormitories at Chennai Central Railway station are well maintained with proper toilets and cleanliness well maintained. AC cooling is good with extra fans as well.
Nice place to spend a night or so instead of spending heavily on the near by hotels which doesn't really justify the cost which they charge us.

Highly recommend the AC dormitory!!!
