Adding another feather to its intellectual cap, Chennai is now home to South Asia’s largest library. So if you are a book lover and need a break from the city’s commotion, this is the place for you. The Anna Centenary Library is an eight-story structure that has recently added to the city’s growing modern landscape in the Kotturpuram area. A Braille section, children’s corner, replica of the "Tree of Knowledge," an auditorium and an amphitheater make quite an impression on visitors.

I've been here with my family quite a few times and my daughters (8 and 6 years) love the place. Great books both in English and Tamil. Children who enjoy reading can easily spend a quality 2-3 hours browsing here. I've not yet been to the sections where they have books for adults.

Anna Centenary Library is situated near the Cancer Institute Adyar. The place is calm and serene. This library is one of the largest in the city with great collections of books for all subjects. The history and economics section is quite extensive. It has a Braille section and a section for old manuscripts like palm leaf which gives us great... More

This library is probably the biggest in the country. We decided to visit this place as we planned Chennai. Have wide range of books from science, religion, literature, career related, IT, cultural and much more. Maintenance is not so great. There is plenty of space for improvement. Knowledge hub not utilised properly.

This place is probably one of the best maintained public libraries in Chennai. They have given a corporate look and feel here with top notch security, neat and comfortable seating arrangements, bright rooms and a great collection of books. Must visit place for all bookworms.

The library is in dire need of attention. The structure itself is new and spacious, however the collection of books is more suited for regional literature lovers (even there, I cant vouch for the collection). Those wanting to do some research, there are no plug points for you to plug in your laptops. Stick to pen and paper. Refreshments are... More
