We took the South Chennai Food Tour which was a food tour by car. A lovely woman from Great Britain was our fellow tourist on the tour. Aamirah was our hostess. She was smart, energetic, informative and a delightful person. She not only explained the recipes, cultures and ingredients of the food that we ate, she also told us a lot about herself and her life in Chennai. We were able to sample a variety of food in a variety of restaurants and bakery, which we would not have done it ourselves. We even had food on the beach enjoyed by Chennai families having a good time on Sunday evening, and we absorbed the festive atmosphere of the locals. Aamirah followed up afterwards with an email listing the places where we ate, and all the food that we ate, so we could remember our tour. In addition, she not only gave us the food tour, she also took the extra effort to show us the sights, the University of Madras, the museum, the Justice Department, various monuments, and the Gandhi sculpture. We had a great time and recommend Aamirah and the tour.

This was quite simply one of the best nights I’ve had in India, (6 trips in 5 years) not just this trip to Chennai. I joined 2 lovely people from USA and we were toured around the most amazing eateries by the funny, smart and knowledgeable Aamirah. We visited 6 different establishments, of which we tried and shared over 15 different dishes/foods. I haven’t laughed like I did last night like that in a long time. It was a perfect end to my stay in Chennai and without doubt I will recommend this tour anyone who loves good authentic Indian food.

Deepa was an excellent host, imparting her knowledge of the food and culture of the region to us. Her hospitality was so welcoming, and the calm way she conducted herself helped us to enjoy the experience of a foodies tour through the streets of Chennai. I can't recommend it enough. My 15 year old, not the most brave of new food eaters declared it the best evening ever, so you can't get a better recommendation that this.
