Our dinner cooking class was an informative, unique and tasty experience! Beginning with a trip to the local markets to learn about the foundations of Rajasthani cuisine, discussing different grains and spices and their nutritional and medicinal value. Purchasing fresh vegetables from the market was a new experience. Back at the kitchen Payal was an incredible teacher and we learnt so much! Our thali was without a doubt one of the greatest meals we have had as of yet. The class was personal and thoughtful. 10/10 recommend.

You start the course by going to the market and Payal is giving plenty of informations about Indian food, spices and vegetables. You create your menu and buy what you need. Then you cook it and Payal is a great and passionate teacher. You end the lesson by eating what you have done and it’s great. I would definitely recommend this experience to my friends.

Payal greeted us with a huge smile and we were immediately taken by her warmth and friendly personality. We accompanied her to the local spice and vegetable market and enjoyed learning from her all about the new and strange vegetables and lentils in India. We cooked 6 different vegetable dishes plus rice! It was such a personal experience as we were asked to pick the vegetables we wanted to eat at the market and Payal made dishes to suit our choice of vegetables. Everything went smoothly and Payal was so patient with us and always ready to answer our many questions about the food and India while we were cooking. And of course the food was delicious too! Highly recommend Payal’s cooking class.

A trip to India would not be complete without learning to cook authentic Indian food. We attended Payal’s Cooking School. Our education started with a trip to Payal’s local spice, legume, and grain market where she explained the difference in the local grains and legumes. Our next stop was to her favorite produce market to pick up the needed vegetables for the meal we would learn to prepare. My husband and I learned to make chapatis, marsala, vegetable Pulav (a rice dish), Lauki Ke Kofte (croquette), and yellow dahl. Keith and I both have a hard time with many hot spices, so Payal showed us what spices we needed to reduce to make it palatable for us. Payal was accomodating when she learned I was vegan and therefore do not eat dairy. Our dinner was amazing!
