Treat yourself to an incredible journey in Rajasthan with a first class driver and guide.
Abdul is kind, considerate and very knowledgeable. He'll point out all the interesting flora and fauna as you are going along and stop for the most delicious food en route at places you would maybe never try but are so worth it.
He took us from Jaipur to Ranthambhore, recommended hotel Ranthambhore Regency which was fabulous, we saw tigers on a morning safari and on the way back to Jaipur we stopped at a very famous chai walla, the black tea was spectacular.
Then our second trip was for 10 days, visiting several cities. From Jaipur to Udaipur, where he took us to eat at a small local eatery, again the food was delicious and cost pennies. We stayed at the Aashiya Haveli, right on Lake Pichola, a lovely calm haveli where the staff are so kind. We did a slow boat trip on the lake but wanted something a little faster so Abdul found us speed boat trips on Lake Fateh Saga! Just ask him and if it is there, he will find it.
From Udaipur to Jaisalmer, the jewel of the trip. The fort here is amazing, our hotel Helsinki House, where Abdul is a very close friend of Maru the manager was wonderful. They even allowed my friend to take over the kitchen one evening to cook the best mutton dish I have ever eaten. A night in the desert at the hotel's camp was unforgettable along withthe jeep safari and gipsy dancing.
We then travelled to Bikaner, the red city before our return to Jaipur, of course visiting Abdul's hand picked eateries on the way.
Abdul is always there when you need him but will disappear when you want time alone to wander. He speaks good English and makes driving in the chaos of the Indian roads seem like a breeze, I always felt 100% safe.
I cannot recommend him highly enough. He has become my go to driver for trips around Rajasthan and I will use his services whenever I am there.
He also does sightseeing trips around Jaipur, his native city and if he is busy he will ask his friend Sonu, a young guy who knows Jaipur like the back of his hand to show you around in his tuk tuk, the most fun way to see the city I think.
