Nice view from the road. Historical place established by the British Raj. Still in use today and very busy. A sight to behold.

While this place is a good eye opener for foreign tourists, locals (Indians) may not see anything extraordinary. It is a place where Dhobis (washing families) wash clothes of their clients, It is huge and a tour of it will also point out the difficulties in their lives. Stand of the bridge right along Mahalaxmi Railway station (Western line) early... More

Dhobi Ghat is worth a stop. It's a picture opportunity and it's quite incredible to see the shear volume of washing. It's the biggest laundry in India - it has 800 wash stations. I cannot imagine what this is like in the height of the summer - or the nightmare of getting things dry during the monsoon. You can see... More

Stood on the bridge that goes over the rail, right beside the Dhobi Ghat. Very surreal, the men were working with vast amounts of laundry how do they get it all back where it belongs? Found it captivating.

O.K. Hundreds of people doing washing! Yes interesting but not for long. Don't take a guided tour, just get a local taxi to take you there. It's cheaper and you can leave after 20mins or sooner.

The Dhobi Ghat is famous and have read about it in books, and seen on movies, but being there to see it is something else. India provides extremes, the very rich and the very poor, its a photographers haven, recommend visiting with a guide no different than any other place, not much to do here other than view the area,... From the bridge you get a bird's eye view of the ghat! Impressive and mind boggling! 2017? Do not stop here...Please ask to visit another laundry ghat which is open to the public ! That was even more impressive to be next to the people who actually does the job!!
