Entry situated near the main Byculla road, the zoo is a joke and is a insult to animal lovers.

Barely any wild animals , the zoo is polluted and enclosures very unclean and filled with dirt.
Pity on the animals who seem to be too lazy even to notice the surroundings.
The kid section for rides is not maintained at all. Staff is uninviting and appears to be tolerating the crowds.
There are no major animals - lions, tiger , giraffes .
The penguin section is only the attraction to look for .

What we have more of animal statues for people to see and enjoy.

It’s a good thing to close the facility and move the attraction to a bigger more natural area around mumbai.

Avoid it at all costs.

Wonder what we’re the foreigners coming for ?

There are very few animals to call it a zoo. There are cages for lions and wolves but they are yet to be introduced in to the zoo. The animals we see have nothing exotic about it. The only charming section is the one with penguins. If one goes there perceiving it as a zoo, one is more than likely to be disappointed. But there are other positives. It is a green lung in the middle of the city where the green leaves of any plant are found in brown colour with multiple layers of dust on them. There are several exotic trees the details of which are given on the tree itself which are extremely well maintained. Open spaces with decent air in the middle of the city is indeed a great charm. It provides a great picnic spot for small groups. Regarding the entry fee - a family of four is entitled for a single ticket for INR 100. Entry is free for senior citizens. Adults are charged INR 50/ person and children INR 25/person. There is a decent parking area in the front which seems to have some charge. There are innumerable toilets in the property right from the entrance onwards. There are at least 2 food courts in the zoo.

The zoo has hardly any animals, not even a lion or tiger. Only attraction is penguin. The entry charges Rs 50 is high. Crowded on holidays. An average level toilet and snack bar available.
Not worth visiting. In fact Mumbai is like the most non happening city for a tourist.

Had wonderful time at zoo. They have tried to make it as per international format and it has turned out to be amazing. Couldn’t believe that in mumbai we have something so nicely done. Could see almost all animals and it was a delight for each age group. Very clean and well maintained with constant housekeeping. Extremely friendly staff. You can carry your own food or they have quite nice food court as well.

Unfortunately too much construction going around the zoo area (buildings) which is disturbing the peace and beauty, not to mention upsetting animals as well. Visitors need to have better civic sense and not harass animals or litter in the park.

A souvenir shop would be great revenue stream. Need crowd management in peak hours.

Tip: go early in morning by 9.30, as soon as it opens, to avoid crowd.

The employees ask foreigners for an 800% markup on the adult ticket price. This is not on their website or signage. Security parroted that you have to pay eight times more. They let me leave. Horrible place.

Visited this Zoo with my daugther. Surprisingly, not many Mumbaikars were aware that this Zoo has been renovated and has "Penguine". Zoo is very well maintained and has animals like Elephant, Tiger, Lion, Hippo, Crocodile, Bird section, Turtle Section etc.
For us the best part was "Humbolt Penguine" gallary. It was exciting to see Penguines right in front of you.
Really a nice weekend place with kids. Good food options also available.

Very good visit, ₹50/ticket is very low cost where you get to see most of the animals including Penguins in their natural habitat..
But you miss King of the Jungle..
Overall a good experience, especially with my daughter..

If you plan to go .. go with expectations of going to a very large park with lot of greenery and well maintained grass and lawns..

The moment you think about animals .. this place disappoints .. under construction and badly managed wrt animals ..

It's a waste of time and money. Hardly any Animal were there. Spend time in a garden or some other places rather than going here. Crowd also somewhat not good. Visit national parks and sanctuaries rather than going here. Complete avoid o. This place.
