Quite an oasis given how much of a concrete jungle Mumbai is. May not compare that favourably with gardens in other cities that have more space, but certainly not to be scoffed at. Great sea view!

I ended up visiting this park while sketching with urban sketchers and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet and serene this park was on a Sunday morning. It's a fairly big park considering other greenspaces in Mumbai. The entrance fee is only Rs 5. Even more impressive when you realise it used to be a garbage dump. I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone looking for some peace and quiet to visit. There are park benches where you can sketch or read or just watch the clouds go by.

It is a very beautiful and well-maintained garden. Timings are 6 am to 11 am in the morning and 4 pm to 8 pm in the evening. Entry fee is Rs 5 per person. Camera charges are Rs 500 per group. You can find so many palm trees, fig-trees, and variety of flowers. You can also get a view of the sea here. Perfect place to spend some quality time with nature.

Sagar Upvan is the Port Trust Gardens at Colaba just beyond Sassoon Docks.

This is not a tourist attraction or a must see place on a visitor's Mumbai itinerary. It's a fair sized local garden with a decent selection of trees and shrubs, popular with morning and evening walkers from the neighbourhood, and a good place for kids to run around in. Entrance is INR5. Open from 06:30 - 11:00AM and 16:30 - 19:00PM.

I went there this morning after a couple of years and noticed immediately that the maintenance had badly deteriorated. The garden looked very dry and some of the key features looked shabby and decrepit. A lot of the shrubs that were there earlier, seemed to be missing though the trees were numbered. As usual, the most prominent bird life were the many raucous Crows, along with their friends the white Egrets and a few Herons. I could hear sunbirds in the bushes. Several butterflies flitted in and out of the nectar rich shrubs that have been planted to attract them. A host of migratory seagulls occupied the low tide rocks outside the fence on the sea facing side.

The path that winds past trees going up to a high point over a bridge, was completely in a state of disrepair with the laterite stones on the path all up and down. If you do not look down all the time, its easy to trip here. Pity.

I was surprised at the lack of maintenance. In years past, this garden has been well maintained and always looked better with each visit. I hope it isn't going to be taken over by the Metro project, that would be awful, but would explain the current poor condition.

To sum up, this is a good garden for those living in the neighbourhood, or if you need to pass time in Colaba when the garden is open as I did this morning. It is certainly not a tourist attraction.

The garden is well maintained and beautiful. A very nice place for a leisurely walk, for the children to play and has a good view of the sea. Benches are provided if you just want to relax in the midst of nature. But there are no lights in the park and the timings are not displayed anywhere. We did not know that the park would become pitch dark after sunset and lingered a bit too long. On our way out, we could hardly see the path. One of us tripped over something and fell getting a nasty bruise and shock. Also I spotted an open manhole with the cover lying at the side. In the darkness somebody could easily fall into it. The place would deserve 5 starts if these things are taken care of.
