- Flyer243314536451 contributionUmaar at Airtel, terminal 2, Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport, Mumbai.I’d like to give a huge shout out to Umaar (not totally sure I remember the spelling right) who was single handedly manning the airtel booth at terminal 2, at 3am. He had a couple of phones in his hand and he was multitasking, attending to 2 customers at the same time! Checking our passports and visas, taking our passport size pics, getting our sim activated etc. Around 4am, we were told the air tel communication was down. He decided to go have his break but when he saw the long queue he stayed on as his heart wouldn’t let him do that. A colleague brought him some eats. To eat it he would need 2 more hands! Finally around 4.45 I got a new sim. Can’t thank you enough Umaar. (He told us he was alone there as his colleague was away on Diwali break).Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 13 November 2023

Best admired from across the road but try and ignore all the chaos, noise and dirt. Definitely go inside to appreciate it even more. Avoid peak times when it is very busy.Visited December 2023Travelled on businessWritten 23 December 2023

The intricate Victorian Gothic architecture is truly breathtaking, with stunning details at every corner that make it more than just a transportation hub - it’s a piece of history and art. However, while the beauty is undeniable, the station is incredibly crowded at almost all times of the day. Navigating through the throngs of commuters can be overwhelming, especially during rush hours. Despite the crowd, it’s a must-visit if you’re in Mumbai, both for its grandeur and cultural significance.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 September 2024

I would recommend visiting the train station twice, once in the day and once at night when it’s all lit up.
It’s an impressive building and an amazingly busy commuter station.
From the station it’s easy to explore Fort with its impressive colonial buildings and good shopping.

One of the major train stations in Mumbai, it's also one of the most beautiful train station buildings in the world.
An amazing mix of Gothic revival and Indo-Islamic style especially in the many domes that crown the roof of the station.
Inside the station are richly decorated gilded columns, statues and relief sculptures.
Definitely go both day and night as it's beautifully lit up then.
Sun down is also a good time to go as the fading sunlight reflects beautifully off the red bricks.

Beautiful exterior. It is a huge structure and appears to be well maintained. The detail of the exterior is impressive. I did not go inside the terminal but apparently it is very busy during peak time with millions going through the train station on a daily basis

A UNESCO world heritage site, this is supposedly the second most photographed place in India, after the Taj mahal.
The architecture is beautiful and enjoyed gazing up from the viewing platform across from it, looking for stone gargoyles.
Unfortunately only viewed it from the outside. It is a working building and supposedly sees 4 million people pass through it daily.

There is no specific time that you do not want to have a look at CST station. During the day it is very nice looking building and at time it is stunning with coloured lights illuminating it from different angles. AN absolute must see monument. WoW

This gothic building is wonderful to view even from a distance. The architecture is evocative of a specific period in time and captures the influence of the British Raj. Some great carvings to see as well.
Apparently it's the only UNESCO listed site that's still in operation. And it gets very busy with millions of people using it.

This is the city's most celebrated Gothic structure. Lavishly decorated with sculptures, it was designed by William Stevens and was opened in 1887 to coincide with the Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee celebrations. Makes a striking sight with its cathedral like spires, turrets, arches, Corinthian columns & stained glass windows.
As the most important transport hub in the world's busiest commuter rail network, every day over 1,250 local and long-distance trains pull in and out of its 18 platforms. Together, they carry around three million passengers – that’s more people than travel on the entire British railway network per day. Up to 5000 passengers cram themselves into - or sometimes even on top of - trains built to hold only 1200.

CST station is one of the oldest railway platform in India established in British rule. During the early period it was name as Victoria station later it was changed. I have a good experience in this platform because I have to travel daily . most important thing here is food I would recommend all of you that avoid buying foods or snacks from railway services except water which you can buy.

Iconic Railway station in Mumbai. Head quarter of Central Railway. If we talk about no. of platforms, it has total 18 platforms. 1 to 6 are dedicated to EMU(famously called as Mumbai local) 8 to 18 are for long distance express/mall trains. 7 surve as common for both. Platform no. 1 & 2 are for harbour line slow trains. All the 6 platforms of EMU are of Iceland type means you can board or alight from both side of the train. Nearby place are ANJUMAN-I-ISLAM School, Azad Maidan, MBC Office, DRM Office, JJ College etc.

Hi All
I am planning to arrive from Shirdi on Vande Bharat express. The train is scheduled to arrive at CSMT around midnight.
I am travelling with family and am looking to get a decent affordable accommodation to spend the night/ sleep which is easily commutable from the station.
Also where at the station is the taxi base/ stand. Is there a separate area for rideshare such as ola/ uber?

How much will it cost to get a taxi from Mumbai airport to Mumbai central? Is it better to book transfer from here or is it easy to get a taxi from airport?
Written 7 December 2019
Taxi from Mumbai airport to Mumbai central will cost around INR900. The cost may differ by INR100 depending upon the time due to the different traffic conditions.
There is no need to book transfer in advance. It is easy to get a taxi from Mumbai airport.

Can anyone give me an idea of how much it will cost for us to get a taxi from Mumbai airport (BOM) to our hotel at Nariman Point? Also, should I wait until I arrive at the airport and is there a taxi desk to go to?
I have been in touch with our hotel and asked for a price which seemed over inflated at 4000 Rupees!
Any idea of cost and recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi,
Is it safe to arrive at this station at 11PM with family? I will be arriving from Goa by Tejas Express and catch a cab to the airport.
Please advise how to get to a spot easily where I can catch a Uber or Ola.
Thanks muchos!

It's easy & Mumbai is safe. The local taxis are plentiful & cheap but an Uber maybe better. Meru was more comfortable.
Have a look at the beautiful station- should be called Victoria Terminus but some people with an insecurity issue had to change the name.
