Visited this monument in May 2017. There was long queues at the entry point due to security checks, but not unexpected due to previous events. Entry to the site is free. There is lots of queue jumpers, so don't get upset. It goes with the territory. There are boat rides lasting 30 minutes for 70 rupees. Expect the boats to... More

The Gateway of India, a dominant symbol of the British Raj is located in South Mumbai, Apollo Bunder overlooking the Arabian Sea. Originally commissioned to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary during their visit of India in 1911, regrettably they only got to see a model as the construction was commenced in 1915. Designed by Scotsman... More

Amazing piece of arhitecture.A must see if you arrive in Mumbai,do not take more than couple of minutes as not too much to do except to read the presentation and take couple of pictures. Nearby you can find the beautiful Taj hotel and just behind is a beautiful alley with coffee shops, souvenirs and local treats.

Just like Arc De Triumph in Paris, “The gateway Of India” is a historic monument built in 1919 to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to India in 1911. This monument is located just at the tip of Apollo Bunder facing the Arabian Sea. There are steps from the monument up to the sea. Many people... More

The history behind the monument is good. That's it. Very crowded with several hawkers and vendors and the ferry traffic. Don't expect a museum here... just couple of pictures and get going.

Gateway of india is located in churchgate, Mumbai. It has been built by the Britisher. It is a very beautiful architect. Most of the people come here to see this marvelous structure. The place is well crowded by people and photographer. I loved it.
