Mumbai is a city to visit, but one full day is enough. I was here 2 nights, but only a full day. I took a guided tour in the morning and in the afternoon I walk around. It s very safe, the people are nice to you and always willing to help when asked.

Honestly, I don't feel that this place require some kind of reviews or any other introduction as this place is itself a popular and self introductory. Its a place of historical background and looks very beautiful in the evening because of its lighting system done by the authorised government people. From this place you can visit Elephanta Caves as well... More

The gateway should definitely be included as part of a tour of mumbai. It's a lovey view of the harbour and Taj hotel as well as the gateway. An interesting part of the British heritage in India.

Must see, but combine your visit with trip to elephanta island (caves), as ferries leave from here. Best to leave early in the day when cooler and less busy both here and on the island. Easy to get ferry tickets at the ticket building in front of gateway

...so plan your visit carefully unless you want to spend 3 hours just going back and forth if you are not staying close-by. There is a market a block or so from the Gateway of India...lots of people but safe and inexpensive. You can also go to the Taj Mahal Hotel while visiting.

This imposing structure is the gateway to the sea and located at the harbor. The beautiful waves lap against the wall. Very busy area filled with happy, cheerful tourists. Enjoy the sunset and sunrise from this beautiful vantage.

No public parking around. Come here by either walk/public transport. There are lots of photographers with portable photo printers who will take good photos and print it out for just Rs 30/copy.
