The 18th-century peaceful, divine and beautiful Mahalaxmi Temple, dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, graces the seashore in proximity to the Haji Ali Dargah.
Temple is clean and well maintained. The temple doesn't offer parking facilities, bus stop around 500 meters away and cabs are available nearby. Shoe stand outside the temple without any charges. you will find shops of sweets, flowers and other goodies nearby the temple.
Usually crowded and there is a huge queue. Have to wait for 30 min for darshan.
Inside the temple premises, photography is not allowed, ensuring a sacred atmosphere.
Receiving blessings from Mahalaxmi is an enchanting encounter. Upon departing, indulge in lots of the delectable street food options near the temple.

Temple of Mahalaxmi devi in South Mumbai is one of the oldest in the city. One can walk in at any point of time in the day. There are some stairs but not many, hence even senior citizens can visit the temple conveniently. Garlands and sweets for offerings are available outside the temple.

An old temple of Shree MahaLakshmi devi. Devotees can get flower and garland from dozens of stalls near the temple. Walk-in visit is most convenient.

If you are bounded by time, this temple should not be on your 'must visit' list. There are very long queues. You will have to spend a long time standing in the line, getting roasted in the midday sun (if you decide to visit in the afternoon), before you are allowed entry into the temple. But do visit it if you have got the time.

The Mahalakshmi Temple is one of the most popular temples in Mumbai. It is dedicated to the Tridevi goddesses - Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati. All these deities are lavishly adorned with jewellery. The main deity, Mahalakshmi, is at the center shown holding lotus flowers. It is an interesting place of attraction for spiritually motivated visitors.

MY Situation similar to yours. Could not find any Helpful support or Volunteers around of temple to help nor the Vendors across Temple could be of any help other than the business commercial reason of getting their things sold. Steps are huge numbers and also inside the temple there is no special privilege for Senior citizens or Wheel chair patients until unless you have some contacts with the Inner chamber "Priest " Group who can make the entrance makeshift for your father from Side ways, which they normally do for well to do human beings whom they are acquainted with or some special convenenicne offered to a privilege few and please note its a pure play of Severe rush and fight with lots of hush gush and no discipline of the devotees , with severe display of muscle power and money power you can see overall in all the areas around the prayer hall. also the railings that are made for the queue , have a hge rush and are very conjusted, once in, you may suffocate your elderly father with no return from the severe chaos. in my light note, i guess they have made a flat road uphill parallel to stairs, for wheel chair patients, but again inside the main temple the chaos is very heavy and wheel chair patients along with senior citizens are not advisable as its purely muscle power. this has no such special discipline like in siddhivinayak temple where you have seperate privileges for wheel chair, senior citizen and handicapped patients and thats called Discipline.

The Tridevi or trio of Mahalaxmi, Mahasaraswati and Mahakali is installed in the sanctum sanctorium of the temple. oldest temple to seek blessings once in mumbai and to prosper in mumbai. Considered as a soul shakti of Mumbai and placed at the edge of the sea. The temple is respect to the Mahalaxmi goddess of Wealth, prosperity and Abundance and to keep them (abundance) in control mahasaraswati (power of wisdom,) and mahaparvati(power of protection from evil ) is installed.in short, the name itself is Special. just chant the name, and see the feeling in your mind body soul for 21 days.
