Review of: Dharavi Slum Tour with Add on options
As much as I have wanted to visit Dharavi for many years I felt conflicted. I did not want to impose on the people and feel like I was intruding and objectifying their situation. So I did some research and found Reality Tours. I appreciated how they give 80% of earnings to their affiliated NGO Reality Gives. I decided this was the best and only way to do a Dharavi slum tour responsibly. The tour was amazing in every way. Our guide J was knowledgeable and lively. He showed us the various industries including leather making, pottery and recycling. Dharavi has some ingenuous small business practises. Everyone returned my smiles and head bobbles with enthusiasm (I love in India how people can go from scowling at you to lighting up with a huge smile if you do the Indian head wobble to them). People seemed happy to see us and not put out. It helps that Reality has a no photography rule. Reality has struggled during covid and really needs the tourists to come back. The much needed funds go to supporting Reality Gives providing English lessons to give young people a chance to change their future. The tour guides, who were once recipients of these lessons, are a testimony to the programs success. Amazing people. Keep up the good work J and team! If you are thinking of going to Dharavi I highly recommend it as one of the more authentic experiences you can have in not only Mumbai but India more broadly. And if you feel conflicted about the ethical and moral aspects, look no further then Reality Tours!…

Review of: Dharavi Slum Tour with Add on options
We had a very impressive tour inside the Dharavi Slum with our small group (4 people) and our guide. The guide‘s English was good and as he grew up in the slum, he could tell us a lot about it. We saw many things, went trough different areas and ended the tour in a family house where the woman cooked the most delicious Indian dish we’ve had so far. Thank you!…
