About Reality Tours and Travel
Reality Tours and Travel is a responsible tour operator providing fun and authentic experiences around India. We invest 80% of our profits back into the communities we visit through our NGO Reality Gives. We are especially well known for our educational Dharavi Slum Tour that shows visitors the industrial and residential areas of one of Asia’s largest slums, located in the heart of Mumbai. We also offer city, village, multi-day and customized tours and we recently expanded to New Delhi and the Sanjay Colony Slum. Our tours educate visitors about the issues as well as opportunities in slums and hopes to encourage them to understand underprivileged communities better. We use 80% of the tour profits and 100% of merchandise profits to fund our sister-NGO Reality Gives that runs and supports a variety of programs in Dharavi and Sanjay Colony. Our goal is to provide authentic and though-provoking local experiences through our tours and to use the profits to create change in our communities. Our vision is a world where all tourism promotes cross-cultural understanding and local development. Our NGO, Reality Gives, provides young people in the local community with high quality education and experiences to help them maximize their potential. We do this by focusing on English, Computer and Life Skills classes as well as a series of activities and workshop in expressive art and sport. We run these program out of three community centres around Dharavi.

We can definitely recommend Reality Tours & Travels Bombay and Delhi. Before the Corona crisis in 2019, we book with Reality Tours our travel with taxis, trains, flights and hotels. Everything was ready. And we prepaid a significant prepayment. But in March 2020 came the flight ban and the impossibility to travel to India. A hectic e-mail exchange followed, which unfortunately sometimes took longer and longer. At last, the founder Krishna himself took the problem into his own hands and the advance payment was immediately transferred back to us. Of course, we will book our trips again with Reality & Tours as soon as the situation allows.

An authentic and really interesting tour with a tour guide, who used to live in the slum himself. You really get the feeling, that the people, working for this organization, care about the slum and want to help to improve the living situation there. A little black mark of the tour was a guy filming us without asking. He actually has been even following us until I said something. The he just laught and went away. Before the tour we have been told not to take any pictures due to respect the privacy of the people living in the slum. I understand this and this was absolutly fine for me, but please try to rais awareness that the tourist might don't like it either.

This was the best thing we did in Mumbai. Very interesting and an onsite into the hard work going on within the slums. You must do this tour.

It seems like a lifetime ago when we did this tour mid-February of 2020 and I have been meaning to sing its praises for a while now but other events took over. My wife and I signed up for this almost our first day in Mumbai and absolutely loved it. Our guide was knowledgeable and informative. We saw so much and learned to appreciate almost everything. I really hope that this will be back on travel itineraries in the near future because it is worth learning about and experiencing. We could learn so much from looking at how people cope and actually enjoy life as the privilege it is. Thanks so much.

I was a little apprehensive about this tour but it was fantastically delivered, eye-opening and positive. The fact so much of the money goes into Dharavi is just brilliant. Reality Tours are superb
