Thanks to the ASI this building is totally restructured and it is marvelously beautiful. I could be gazing this building for hours looking at each of intricately designed windows and structures. Truly a heritage building for Mysore.

The architectural splendor takes your breath away. The garden outside has many exhibits scattered. The Oriental Research Institute is a Research Institute with collections of very rare palm leaf manuscripts and paper manuscripts. The institute was established in Mysore by Sri Chamaraja Wodeyar Bahaddur, the then Maharaja of the erstwhile State of Mysore. Right from its inception the Oriental Research Institute (ORI) has been housed in the architecturally attractive Jubilee Hall built in 1887 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria’s accession to the British throne. But you need special permission to view them

What a mesmerizing ensemble collection of rare and historic materials - from old manuscripts to arts and exhibits. Just thought it would be an old building of little interest and as I was browsing thru the huge collection I literally got lost in time!

The Oriental Research Institute is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city of Mysore, located next to the equally impressive Crawford Hall of the University of Mysore. A well-known research institute, for a tourist, however, apart from the lovely exterior of the building with its rich carvings, there is little else to see. Spend not more than 5-10 minutes here.
