Located on the mysore ooty highway this small temple at about 1000 mts above sea level offers you one of the best views of the bandipur forests. A slightly adventurous short trek through the tall grass takes you to a point from where you stair down at the bandipur forests...elephants and bisons look up at you ...the cool breeze and the mist kissing your face is enthralling experience...when i went here last the forest department was constructing some new cottages..a must see place if you travel to ooty from mysore...

A beautiful, yet simple, Krishna temple sitting on the hilltop, with a very scenic approach road.

Visited this on the way while returning to Bangalore from Bandipur (you need to take a left from the nearest village Hangala). A checkpost just prior to the approach road at the base of the hill checks the vehicle and passengers for plastic, which was very nice. The approach road is extremely broken and in bad shape, but nevertheless its very picturesque and provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the locality below.

Locally known as Gopalswamy betta, the temple itself is a very simple one, with a shrine of lord Krishna. The temple is said to have natural dripping waters, which the pujari sprinkles on the devotees.

The surrounding hills are known to be great for trekking.

Himada gopalswamy temple is 230kms from Bangalore,it is off Mysore-ooty road, near gundlupet.
It is so named because round the year the hill is covered with mist, presiding diety of the temple lord krishna is drenched by water droplets which condense within sanctum sanctorum .Water droplets also sprinkled on devotees visiting the temple.Krishna idol is at majestic best.
Nature is at its best on this small hill, cool, green, and unexplored nature.
There is no basic amenities, food and water should be carried.
Apart from mist, temple we can come across herds of elephant.

I learnt about the place from a tv channel and set to visit in september with my family and friends. Its exciting one day outing from Bangalore.

I have been here at least 5 times in the last 3 years. Best time to visit this place is around mid June when the monsoon season is at its peak. Temple and around it would be fully covered with clouds and it would be chilly and very windy. All the times I visited, people were allowed to loiter on the hills around the temple. Due to some bad incidences, all that has supposedly stopped recently. Temple 'purohita' serves food in the afternoons at a nominal price to people who visit the temple. Prior intimation to him is required. Must visit place!

This is one beautiful hill which I have visited many times and every time in a different seasons and have found it differently beautiful. Good opportunities if you are a shutterbug. The temple is really old, with nice Krishna idol, calm and clean most of the times.

If you reach here early in the morning you can spot elephants and leopards(if lucky). During my previous visits we had walked those trails behind the temple till the wall and beyond. But this time the forest guards did not allow visitors walk past the temple.

Please please please do not litter the place.
