For fanboys and fangirls of R.K.Narayan / Malgudi days, this quaint row house is a must visit place.

RKN stayed in these premises in his late childhood and during adulthood. Today, the one storey house is converted into a museum that nicely describes the life and times of RKN.

Conspicuously missing though is any mention of RK Lakshman (celebrated illustrator and sibling of RKN) or any of their collaborations. Visualizations of Malgudi for me are primarily from the Doordarshan TV series from the 1980s and cartoons drawn by RKL.

Tanana tana na na na the song that played on Doordarshan which became famous in the '90s. I remember waiting for Swami and his Friends and picturised myself in Malgudi Days. Those were the days which i shall always cherish.
Mysore trip shall be a memorable one since I got to visit the residence of R.K.Narayan.
His house is turned into a museum filled with all his work, it's well maintained with his childhood stories to his success, the struggle and the achievements. Pictures of malgudi days made me remember my childhood.
The museum has no entry fee, just your love for his work is required.

It was with great hope that we went to see the house of the renowned author RK Narayan with our daughter Aswathi, who has been following his work and fascinated by the stories of RK Narayan especially Swami and Friends , Malgudi days .
His younger brother the renowned cartoonist RK Laxman played a major role in popularising his works . Unfortunately RK Laxmans name was not mentioned on any of the display boards there . That was disappointing for any lover of his work.😒
Well maintained and beautiful house portraying the simplicity of this great person .

I am one among the millions of fans of R K Narayan. My dream came true to visit his house. Simple independent house with garden and hall, bedrooms, kitchen, dining, upper level. The house has cool red oxide flooring, which made me nostalgic, as the house, I grew up also had red oxide flooring. The house furnitures are very simple. It conveys the simplistic life of R K Narayan. Happy to see the bookshelf. The house is decorated with lots of his quotations.
It tells me that a writer is made not by surroundings, but from his mind. R K Narayan has made wonderful works from this house. Happy that government has taken over the house and maintaining it well. The admission is free. Government can have a theater here to show documentary about RK Narayan and also sell his books at discounted rate for next generation.
Must visit for every reader, be it English or any language.

I'm ashamed to admit that I've never heard of R K Narayan until I came to visit this house and realised what a giant of literal I've been missing from my list of read authors. This is a simple house museum where the author once live in Mysore and covers his biography, works and exhibits many of the items and awards that once belonged to him. There are many posters with quotes from Narayan.

Visiting this museum and reading about this life and works made me want to go out there and buys his books to read.

If there is one place that you must visit while in Mysore then it has to be this place. RK.Narayan built this house in early 50s and penned some of his best works while living here. The house has recently been converted into a museum. On display are various awards, books he wrote, personal belongings and other items from the perioed he stayed here.

Amazing is the only word that comes to my mind at the house of R K Narayan, an iconic writer. This house is situated in peaceful part of Mysore. It is maintained well and the old lady who greets you is very friendly. You can witness autors books, personal belonging and more than that the place where he lived and penned down many memorable characters. Must visit at Mysore !!!
