About
Shimla Walks is headed by Sumit, an explorer, a writer and a story teller. We are here to offer an experience, a life time experience. If you are keen to approach the remotest regions in Himalayan ranges this can be for you. Under this brand name we run Himalayan Walks which take you really to the remote locations in the Himalayan valleys and introduce you to the locals. All the team members of our team are locals and so they know the area very well. We live traditionally and that is what we want you to experience with us. Our living styles, our food, our attire and our culture is something that attracts everyone. The whole community is based on the local deities and the festivals attached with them. So come and join us on one of our walks to experience Himalaya in a different way.

We had a brilliant heritage walk around Shimla with Rajat from Shimla walks.(shimlawalks.com). Rajat was knowledgeable about the local area, it's history, architecture and his interesting stories about the people
brought the town alive.
Rajat also gave us a few other walks to look at around Shimla of varying lengths and areas of interest and we plumped for the Shali Trek. A day trip into the mountains with an amazing trek up to the Shali Tibba. It was an uphill slog for us but well worth the view at the end! Thankyou Rajat for making our stay memorable and for your kindness and sharing your knowledge of the area. Davinder and Sarah .

We wanted to see more of the area outside Shimla and toom the Ridge Line Walk with Shimla Walks. The overall experience was excellent. Good information prior to travel and the walk. The walk itself was very good and informative. Our guide was Raju, who was a great source of information. We concluded with a meal with a local family in a village which was well worth it - the food was good and it was nice to get a little closer to the people in the area.

Hiked the scenic trails of the Himalayan foothills. Spectacular views of mountain tops and deep valleys, covered in forest. Led by a superb guide, Raju Thakur, who knows the countryside like the back of his hand. Raju knew we were keen to see birds, and he spotted many for us. Saw "lifers" such as the Himalayan Griffon and the Black Pheasant. When walking in town, Raju was a wealth of knowledge about local culture and practice. Birders, pack your 'bins, book with Shimla Walks and specify Raju. A treat awaits!

Sumit's customer service was impeccable as we changed our minds several times and he didn't miss a beat. We opted for a 3-4 hour hike on the outskirts of Shimla. He organized everything and provided some color commentary on Shimla and the surroundings. I'd definitely want to use his services again when I visit next.

Sumit was an excellent guide, extremely knowledgeable, charming and friendly guide to Shimla. He collected us from our hotel on time and impressed us with his deep knowledge and love for Shimla, his home town. He answered all of questions and our heritage took in the Institute of Advanced Studies, the Gaiety Theatre, Christ Church and all the major heritage sites of Shimla. If you're looking to understand Shima's heritage and history more, I can think of no better way than this walking tour!

A very interesting and enjoyable day packed full of Real and amazing insights into Shimla and its past present and what shaped so many events of History and every bit entertaining.
We were escorted by Sumit ji to Halog the erstwhile capital of Dhami where we spent a day in the village with the first family of the village. The day included a guided walk through the village and the beautiful countryside before having one of the best lunch we have ever had and in one of the most gracious company.
The experience will be special forever as our first interaction with Sumit ji and Dushyant ji and his lovely wife and son. Hope to be back soon on another shared experience with them all - Thanks from the bottom of our hearts.
